Today's Good Exhibition | "The Pulse of Modernity: Powerlong Art Exhibition"

At the moment of the epidemic, the public account of The Powerlong Art Museum launched the Cloud Viewing Exhibition, taking you to the fourth anniversary exhibition of the museum - "Modern Pulse: Baolong Art Exhibition" to take a look.

I once said that this "Modern Pulse" exhibition at the Powerlong Museum of Art is probably the most underrated exhibition in Shanghai Beach today. Because in this exhibition, the most outstanding Chinese and foreign artists in the past hundred years have gathered together, 6,000 square meters, 6 large exhibition halls, 150 works, from Qi Baishi to KWAS, the content is all-encompassing, no matter men, women and children, no matter which angle you look at, you can find your favorite works in the exhibition and get your own insights.

Nowadays, through the cloud to see the exhibition, we can review the mood of watching the exhibition at that time, and at the same time get the latest insights from the fight against the epidemic at home.

In the exhibition, Cai Guoqiang's work "The Bund Without Us" occupies an entire large exhibition hall.

Needless to say, the sheer scale of the work — it takes dozens of steps from one end to the other — what matters is the content of the work.

Cai Guoqiang, "The Bund Without Us"

I remember that in 2014, Cai Guoqiang blew up this work at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art. At that time, Cai Guoqiang said that the Bund is the symbol of the whole of Shanghai, and I blew up the Bund after the human race had already left one day through gunpowder.

"The Bund Without Us" creates a real scene

In the work, the future Bund has long been "taken over" by nature, with herds of animals walking on the Bund road, and mountain flowers scattered in the ruins of the vine-wrapped buildings. Cai Guoqiang is talking about the environmental challenges facing mankind and the relationship with nature, which now seems to be really mixed feelings.

Zeng Jianyong's work "The Wild Realm"

There is also a masterpiece, the ink painting "The Wild Realm" by young artist Zeng Jianyong. This is the largest work of Zeng Jianyong to date, with 36 paintings put together.

Zeng Jianyong's scenery always has a feeling of wanting people to walk in, especially when the scale of the picture is close to the real tree and real stone, the sense of envelopment and substitution is even stronger. Every viewer walks by this work, leaving a good picture.

"Zhuye" is taken from Confucius's saying "lose courtesy and ask for zhuye", which means that if you lose traditional etiquette and morality, you must go to the folk to visit and pray.

Zeng Jianyong's landscape series is named after "Zhuye", he understands "Zhuye" as the natural world, which contains huge information, and when we have great confusion about human society, whether macro or micro, we can go to the natural world to find enlightenment.

Huang Ji, Liu Haisu, Cheng Shifa, Xie Zhiliu and Yu Zhizhen collaborated on "Exorcising Evil Spirits and Nafu"

He also recommended a Chinese painting "Exorcism of Evil Spirits" cooperated by five artists such as Huang Ji. Conveying the expectations and blessings of traditional Chinese stories, the work was created in 1983.

At that time, the famous Chinese painter Huang Ji painted the main character Zhong Kui, and Liu Haisu, who was 88 years old at the time, was full of appreciation after seeing it, and gladly raised his pen to name it.

Three days later, Cheng Shifa, Xie Zhiliu, and Yu Zhizhen, three masters of Chinese painting, were invited to add color to this work, Cheng Shifa added small ghosts and bats to the pen, echoing the theme of exorcising evil spirits, Xie Zhiliu added a few wild flowers to the sideburns of Zhong Kui, Yu Zhizhen made up the sword spike, and finally, Xie Zhiliu, who had the highest calligraphy achievement among several people, recorded the grand event of cooperation between the north and the south painting world.
