Zhou Guanyu started in 12th place, but due to problems in the starting stage, he later collided with McLaren's Australian driver Cardo, and once fell to the end of the team after starting. In the follow-up race, Zhou Guanyu struggled to catch up, but was sentenced to give an extra 5 seconds at a stop for exceeding the track limit. The operation error of the Alfa Romeo team led to Zhou Guanyu making up for the penalty at the second stop, and finally "lost" with the points. Zhou Guanyu's teammate, Finnish driver Bottas, chose to retire due to racing problems in the second stop.

The race venue is located in Jeddah, a western Saudi coastal city on the east coast of the Red Sea, and the track is adjacent to the sea, which is characterized by high speed and high risk. The third race will be held in Melbourne, Australia, from 8 to 10 April.
