On May 6, the main race of the F1 Miami Grand Prix was held. Lando Norris won his first race in his 110th F1 race, becoming the 114th driver in F1 history to win a race. China's Zhou Guanyu finished the race in 14th place.
At the start of the race, Pérez locked up at Turn 1 and narrowly missed Verstappen's car. Piastri overtook Leclerc at Turn 17 on lap 5, and then Leclerc made an unsuccessful attempt to overtake him at Turn 1.
On lap 14, Norris began to try to overtake Pérez in front of him. On lap 18, Pérez became the first driver in the leading group to make a pit stop.
On lap 22, Verstappen hit the marker pole at Turn 15 and the marker pole landed on the track, triggering a virtual safety car. The virtual safety car ended quickly, with some drivers choosing to pit during the virtual safety car.
On lap 28, Sargent's front left and Magnussen's right rear tyre collided, and then Sargent lost control and crashed into the wall, and the safety car was deployed. Magnussen was given a 10-second time penalty for the collision.
Norris pitted under the safety car and came out ahead of Verstappen to become the front-runner for the race. Once the race resumed, Norris extended his lead and set the fastest lap on lap 37.
McLaren's Norris crossed the finish line first to claim his first career race win. Red Bull Racing's Verstappen finished second and Ferrari's Leclerc third. Sainz, Sergio Pérez, Hamilton, Yuki Tsunoda, Russell, Alonso and O'Con are ranked 4th to 10th. China's Zhou Guanyu overtook the race and finished in 14th place.
