England Carlos hinted after scoring a goal that he was unhappy at Manchester United: he liked to play with a smile and felt needed

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw scored in England's 2-1 warm-up against Switzerland, and in first-half stoppage time, he received a cross from the right and blasted his left foot into the net, reminiscent of his nickname at last year's European Championships – England Carlos! After the game, Luke Shaw admitted that he enjoyed playing for the Three Lions more because he was more valued for the national team than for Manchester United.

Luke Shaw is an absolute mainstay under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but interim manager Ronnick doesn't fully trust him, with England's Carlos last appearing for Manchester United on 26 February against Watford. Brazil, who took the knife guard Tres, got more starters, Luke Shaw no longer secured the start, and his injuries were increasing.

In England, Southgate still sees him as a left-back first choice. Against Switzerland, Luke Shaw scored the equaliser at Wembley Stadium, followed by Harry Kane scoring a penalty to tie Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 49 goals, second only to Wayne Rooney in the all-time top scorers list.

Back in Mourinho's coaching days, it was known that Luke Shaw was a player in need of pampering. At the time, the mohammer was often publicly critical of Luke Shaw, and the England international and his family also publicly expressed their dissatisfaction. After this England match, the Manchester United left-back admitted in an interview with Sky Sports that he was well aware of the difference between the national team and the club, and playing for England made him more free.

"The environment here was created by Gareth [Southgate], and you always enjoy it." Luke Shaw said, "I came here with a smile on my face and to enjoy the game. We all enjoy playing for the country, you come here and focus on playing for England."

As to whether he needs to be happy to play better, Luke Shaw replied: "I think everyone is like that. It's always very important to feel that the team needs you, especially here in England, I can always feel it. I'm not saying you can't at Manchester United, but it's a very deep feeling here, the situation in England makes me feel needy and I enjoy my football."

Luke Shaw added: "A big part of football is enjoyment, of course, if the club loses and doesn't play well, it's hard to enjoy and we have to face that too. This season [Manchester United] wasn't good enough at all and hard to enjoy. Manchester United have a lot to improve, but now that we're in England, I'm just focusing on the games here."

However, former England international Jamie Redknapp believes Luke Shaw can't complain that if he can't afford to play under pressure and just thinks that the coach and fans have to love him, then he may not be suitable for Manchester United.

"You can't underestimate the pressure a player puts on to play for this type of club, and if you can't cope with it, you may not be the best person for the big club.' You have to face the targeting of 50,000 people, you have to be able to accept it."

"Of course, you can feel the pain of a player who says something so honest, but if you start dreaming of becoming a professional from the age of 10 or 11, you have to accept the fact that you are definitely going to be criticized. Not every night is as good as it is today, and he has said very publicly that he feels more comfortable playing for England."
