The Mirror: Southgate can focus on the top 8 fringe internationals, and Tottenham Fox City will have two players each

Live bar April 4, 2019 The dust has settled on the World Cup group draw, and England will face the winners of the United States, Iran and the Three Teams of Scotland/Ukraine/Wales in the European Zone. The Mirror has listed eight international candidates who are not currently in England's squad but are doing well and can be used for the next seven months for manager Southgate to continue to examine.

1. Fikayo-Tomori

The former Chelsea centre-back is currently battling to end the season with a Serie A title. At AC Milan, Tomori proved himself with performance, enhancing the solidity of Pioli's defensive line and even winning praise from legendary Italian defender Paolo Maldini.

Under Southgate, Tomori has only made two appearances for England, making as a substitute for Kosovo and Andorra. If he can win the serie A with the team at the end of the season and continue to maintain this excellent form for the rest of the year, it may not be easy for Southgate to ignore him.

2. Eric Dell

Eric Dyer once played a historic penalty to help England win the penalty shootout for the first time in the World Cup. However, in the following seasons, Dale withdrew from the England squad competition – his last appearance as an England international would be until November 2020, when he won 4-0 at home to Iceland.

Luckily, having played in Portuguese sports, he has regained his best form this season under Conte's professional guidance. Southgate tends to opt for a three-back line – and at its core, a centre-back built by Conte can be very attractive to Southgate.

3. James Madison

Leicester City's results this season have been disappointing, but that hasn't stopped Madison from contributing 13 goals and eight assists as the foxes' midfield core. A few injuries and ill-timed injuries have hampered Madison, leaving him with only one appearance in England so far, but for many Premier League clubs it has been too difficult to defend the former Norwich ace.

Whether as a starter or on the bench, Madison is a brilliant candidate. His attacking power, creativity and ability to kick free kicks into dead corners above goal from almost any angle will make him a very dangerous "weapon" for Southgate. Southgate will remember england failing to beat Croatia in the last World Cup semi-final, in large part because of a lack of reliable candidates on attack – madison was undoubtedly a strong contender outside of Southgate's squad.

4. Harvey Barnes

Harvey Barnes made his only appearance in England, with the ability to offer a wider range of options for the team's attack in a wider area. He has the ability to break through opponents' full-backs from the inside or outside, complete crosses or score goals on his own. That makes him a terrible full-back who gives opponents a headache.

His inexhaustible physical fitness and excellent sense of position allowed him to grow into an outstanding genius under Rogers' guidance. Barnes' selection hopes may be based on injuries or poor form – but even if England don't suffer an injury or a crisis of form, Barnes is still a deadly addition.

5. Jarrod Bowen

Salah, Son Heung-min and Kane are the only three Players in the Premier League this season who have scored more goals than Bowen. The wing magician was arguably a flashpoint for Moyes' side, providing hammer pounds with plenty of goals and assists to get into the scramble group.

Southgate doesn't lack offensive wingers, but on the right, there aren't too many left-footed players who can complete the incision. Despite the strong competition from Foden and Saka, Bowen will certainly inspire himself to forge ahead.

6. Ryan-Sesseignon

Chilwell has ended early this season with injuries and Luke Shaw's performance at Manchester United has been unstable, leaving a huge gap in England's left-back position. However, at Tottenham's soon-forgotten Ryan Sessegnon under Conte, the left-back played very well.

He has left an impressive performance on the left side of Tottenham. And if Southgate's lack of choice at left-back continues into next season and he has more opportunities under Conte, the England boss is likely to consider the 21-year-old.

7. Dan-Byrne

As one might expect, Newcastle showed terrible financial prowess in the January transfer window, but their best, most critical – we are serious – signed with Dan Byrne from Brighton.

The left-footed centre-back has been recruited for warm-up matches against Switzerland and Côte d'Ivoire. Being 6 feet 6 inches tall will be a huge threat to him in both restricted areas – is he worth Southgate's bet?

8. Ivan Tony

Kane is the only England homegrown striker to score more goals in the Premier League this season than Ivan Tony. The Brentford goalscorer shocked everyone by scoring 11 goals and assisting three times in 26 league games.

In a 4-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Ivan Tony faced the Champions League champions' defence and made multiple breaks through Thiago Silva and Rudiger. His clever running and excellent ability to predict the direction of crosses mean he is the perfect "Fox" striker in the penalty area – he could be the perfect backup option if England are behind.
