Saudi Qualifying: Perez pole position Hamilton Q1 eliminated

In the early morning of March 27, the qualifying of the 2022 F1 Saudi Grand Prix was held at the Jeddah circuit, and after three stages of fierce competition, Red Bull Racing's Perez won pole position, Ferrari's Leclerc and Sainz were second and third, Perez's teammate Verstappen was fourth, and seven-time champion Hamilton Q1 was eliminated.

Q1

Before half of the drivers could make a valid result, Williams' Latifi slapped himself on the wall, the race was red flagged, and the race was suspended.

After the race resumed, Verstappen took the lead in the fastest lap of the game of 1:29.330, after which Ferrari's Leclerc and Sainz both made faster laps, and Verstappen fell to third.

Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu made a lap of 1 minute 30 seconds 133, temporarily in tenth place.

Mercedes' Hamilton made a last-ditch effort, but still only finished sixteenth, with Q1 eliminated.

The other four drivers eliminated in Q1 were: Alben, Hockenberg, Latifi and Hiroshi Kakuda, who had problems with the car and did not compete.

Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu once again made it to Q2.

Q2

In the first gallop of Q2, Ferrari's Leclerc took the lead in the fastest lap of the game of 1:28.883, Perez trailed 0.041 seconds and temporarily finished second, and Verstappen was 0.062 seconds behind and temporarily third.

With 5 minutes left in Q2, Haas driver Mick Schumacher hit the parapet at high speed, debris flying all over the sky, the race was shown red flags, and the race was suspended.

After the race resumed, Sainz improved the fastest lap of the game to 1:28.686.

The five drivers eliminated in Q2 were: Norris, Ricardo, Zhou Guanyu, Mick Schumacher and Stoll.

Q3

In the first galloping lap, Sainz took the lead in the fastest lap of the game of 1:28.402, Leclerc trailed 0.044 seconds and temporarily finished second, and Perez was 0.152 seconds behind and temporarily third.

After returning to the pit area for a short break, everyone re-entered the track for the last sprint.

In the end, Perez made a lap of 1:28.200 and managed to take pole position.
