Follow in the footsteps of Dayu

In March of Yangchun, the Yucheng Writers Association organized a pen gathering meeting, following the footsteps of Dayu, from the ancient city of Yuxi to the Pavilion of Yu Wang, completing a perfect journey to explore the spirit of Dayu.

Against the steep spring breeze, a group of eight of us went to the ancient city of Yuxi in Lun Town to collect wind. Along the way, I saw the green wheat field outside the car window, and the green buds on the trees on the side of the road had sprouted. It is Arbor Day, and from time to time there are cars carrying saplings on the side of the road, and there are many people planting trees in the distance. Arriving at the old city of Yuxi, looking far away, I saw that the wheat seedlings in the wheat field were green, and a large earthen platform stood alone. In recent years, due to the surrounding villagers taking soil here, the ruins of the old city have become significantly lower, and most of them have been planted with crops, but some of the outlines of the ruins can still be roughly recognized. Facing the mighty spring breeze, walking in the green wheat fields of Yu Xi's old city, I can't help but gush with the verses in the "Book of Poetry" in my chest: Pi Di is separated, and The seedlings of Pi Ji are scattered. The line is moving, the center is shaking. Those who know me, say that I am worried, and those who do not know me, what do I ask for? Leisurely heavens, who is this!
Standing on the ruins of Yu Xi's old city, I can't help but think about it: in ancient times, the heavens and the earth were vast, the universe was flooded, and the people suffered from the flooding of the sea. In the era of Emperor Shun, the Yellow River Basin flooded and was boundless, flooding crops, flooding mountains, flooding people's houses, displacing people, many people had to leave their homes, flooding brought boundless disasters to the people, and people suffered greatly. Emperor Shun sent Cang to rule the water unsuccessfully, and also sent Yu to succeed his father in controlling the water. In the face of the torrential flood, Dayu learned from the failure of the carp to control the water, changed the method of "blocking", and channeled the flood. Dayu dug up soil and established a headquarters here to control the water, which lasted eight years. Because this city is a city of buried soil, posterity called it the ancient city of Yuxi.
According to ancient texts, The carp was ordered to control the flood, stole the soil and used it, god was angry and cursed, and the fish hid in Dongzhou (that is, the territory of Yucheng), and when Yu succeeded his father to control the water, God allowed the use of the resting soil. After Yu was ordered to search east for the soil, find it in yu's old city and dig it up and use it. Soil resters, also known as soils, refer to yellow-sticky organic soil with black tinges. Yellow is the soil that originates from the Kunlun Mountains deposited with the impact of water, and black is the soil formed by the decay of grass and trees. This soil is fertile, has the function of living and nourishing all things, this soil has strong cohesion, cohesion, and is also a good person for building cities and dams. The ancients regarded the soil as a treasure land. The soil buried in the territory of Yucheng is thick and bottomless, inexhaustible, and exerts great divine might in the water. Therefore, the city of The Buried Land was buried, and posterity called it the Ancient City of Yuxi. In the winter of 1996, the archaeological exploration team conducted exploration and test excavation of the western section of the city site, and found the depth and width of the foundation of the city wall, the rammed earth layer was clearly recognizable, and the surface was rich in pottery pieces and rubble accumulation, most of which were traces of the Spring and Autumn Period. Focusing on the search and exploration along the range of the ancient city, it was found that in the north there was a large ditch with a depth of about five meters, one of which was full of flower soil and soil, and contained a small number of early cultural pottery pieces, and the five meters below was still loose soil and rubble. This shows that there is a cultural layer under the city. It is speculated that the ancient city of Yuxi was built on the site of Gaoguo City, and the ancient city of Gaotang was built on top of the ancient city of Yuxi, and the three cities formed a superimposed trend.
After visiting the ancient city of Yuxi, we went all the way to the north, following the footprints of The Great Yu Zhishui, to visit the Yuwangting Museum. Yuwang Pavilion is located 400 meters southeast of Shiliwang Village in Shiliwang Hui Nationality Township. In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Yuwang Pavilion collapsed, and the mound soil was also lost year by year, and the current hill is 8 meters high and covers an area of more than 2,000 square meters. In the Ming Dynasty, in order to commemorate the kindness of Da Yu Zhi Shui, the "Yu Ji Pavilion" was built on the Gu Mound. When it was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty, it was renamed "Yuwang Pavilion", and a statue of Yuwang was erected in the pavilion. Qing Jiaqing's "Chronicle of Yucheng County" says: "Guqiu, ten miles west of the city, it is said that Yu Zhishui built this to look at the water potential. As the saying goes: Ten Mile Look. "Yucheng County Chronicle Supplement" contains: The west of the city is Qiu, also known as Beiqiu, and it is said that the Great Yuzhi River was built here to look at the water Qiu. In the 50th year of the Kangxi Dynasty, ZhiXian Zengjiugao set up 54 acres of sacrificial land; in the second year of Yongzheng, Qiu Shang was rebuilt.
Archaeology confirms that this is the site of the Yongsan culture more than 4,000 years ago. In 1974, a layer of gray soil was discovered here, and stone shovels, stone axes, bone needles, armor, pottery spinning wheels, eggshell pottery pieces and other production and living tools left by the ancients were excavated. Since 1996, Yucheng has successively restored and rebuilt the Yuwang Hall and the Yuwang Pavilion. As a result, the "Yuwangting Museum" was formed, which is now quite large. In 1977, it was approved as the first batch of provincial key cultural relics protection units in Shandong Province.
When we arrived at the Yuwangting Museum, it was nearly noon, and under the guidance of the tour guide, we visited the Hall of Enjoyment, the Great Hall in turn, and finally climbed the Yuwang Pavilion, which is 80 meters high. Standing on the tall Yuwang Pavilion, looking around, the apricot trees and peaches in the near courtyard have already confided in the spring breeze and swayed; in the distance, there are many cranes and towers, and high-rise buildings are rising from the ground. Now Yucheng has the platform advantage of entering the ranks of "national brand"; biological industry, equipment manufacturing industry, etc. occupy an important position in the industry in the country; especially Bowling Bao Biological Co., Ltd. is a "national key high-tech enterprise" led by biological engineering, one of the top 100 food additive enterprises in China, and the pillar enterprise of "China Functional Sugar City".
In ancient times, Dayu led the people to rule the water for thirteen years, opening Kyushu, Tongjiu Dao, Pi Jiuze, and Du Jiu Shan, in order to dredge up the blockage, turn harm into profit, and eventually become a great cause of a generation. The modern people of Yucheng adhere to the spirit of Dayu, work hard, take the lead in development, and vigorously develop economic and social health. Yucheng, this ancient and vibrant new city, is walking towards us with vitality.
