The Daily Telegraph's Ryan Taylor reported that Arsenal had broadened their summer window shooter list, expanding from stars such as Isaac, Lewin and Jonathan-David to other options.

Benfica's Núñez, Napoli's Osimhen and Chelsea's Broia (currently on loan to Southampton) are all on the table.

Arsenal have already negotiated with Núñez's agent but face competition from Premier League favourites such as West Ham and Newcastle.

The biggest obstacle to signing Osimhen is his price, which is expected to exceed £80 million. Given Chelsea's ownership issues, there is also uncertainty about bringing in Broia.

If Everton continue to perform poorly, the likelihood of Lewin leaving the team will increase. They have won 1 and lost 4 of their last 5 games, just 3 points above the relegation zone.

Having multiple options before the summer window is not a bad thing. This way they can sign one of the players at a reasonable price and don't rely too much on the decisions of the player or the club.

The disadvantage for the gunners is that everyone knows they're going to bring in a shooter. Other teams take advantage of this when selling, loaning and signing contracts to gain the initiative.

Increasing the number of targets could be a negotiating technique for Arsenal.

Martinelli confirmed that playing for Italy was not on his radar and the Italian team's management did not contact him.

Martinelli, who will travel with Brazil this month, hopes to make his national team debut. But technically, he can still play for Italy.

Under FIFA's new rules, if a player has played less than four times for a national team, he or she can still choose to change the court – as long as he is under 21 years old at the time of his first three appearances.

During this interval, the 20-year-old Martinelli will obviously not play 4 games, as Brazil only have two games to play. This means he can still swap his national team for Italy, if he wishes.

In an interview with The Globe Sports, he confirmed that this would not happen.

"I've put that thing aside (for Italy)," Martinelli said.

'Like I said before, my dream is to play for Brazil and I'm just waiting for this opportunity.

He added that Italy had not even seriously approached him, only to express his willingness to do so after a game when Chelsea midfielder Jorginho expressed his willingness to do so.

'No player has ever said this to me, only Giogenho has ever said something like 'I want to see you in March', but no one else has said anything to me, no.'

Such a statement put an end to some speculation. Martinelli will be a Brazilian player, while Italy will need to look elsewhere for talent.
