When it comes to Huang Zhixian, many friends in the mainland may not know this name.
However, she is a household name in Taiwan and in some overseas Chinese circles, with hundreds of thousands of followers on YouTube, the world's largest video platform alone.
Its program "Night QuestionIng And Fighting Rights" has received widespread attention.
Unlike Zhao Shaokang, the famous mouth of the Blue Camp, and the "curator" of the Green Camp Fighter, Huang Zhixian not only maintains a unified position as a faction, but also does not deliberately hide his deep feelings and national identity towards the mainland.
It can be said that Huang Zhixian is a rare clear stream in Taiwan, which is full of green media.
1, the cultivation of the famous mouth
During the Time of Chiang Kai-shek, there were two major ethnic groups in Taiwan, "people from other provinces" and "people from this province".
Mainlanders who moved to Taiwan with the Kuomintang regime after 1949 and their descendants are commonly known as provincials.
Since the two Chiang Kai-shek eras, the older generation of provincials has almost monopolized the posts in the field of military public education.
Many of them are blue camps and commanders.
Local residents of Taiwan are considered "natives of this province".
Huang Zhixian was born in a typical provincial family.
Her father, Huang Huihui, is a doctor at ChiayiKai Clinic, with a good income and is very concerned about the education of her children.
So much so that his four children later became well-known figures in Taiwan's political and academic circles.
Huang Zhixian, born in 1964, was born in the right time of his childhood when Chiang Kai-shek's father and son vigorously developed Taiwan and advocated a "counter-offensive on the mainland."
Unlike the "localization" education pursued by the Taiwan authorities in the future, teachers in Taiwanese schools at that time would clearly tell students that the other side of the strait and Taiwan were the same country.
The history, geography and Chinese languages taught in the school are also mainly Chinese history, geography and Chinese literature.
Therefore, Huang Zhixian, like many older generations of Taiwanese, regards the mainland as a compatriot and has deeply identified with cross-strait reunification since childhood.
Huang Zhixian liked to read the news since he was a child, and often bought magazines for his father.
It is worth mentioning that the magazine bought by Huang Father belongs to the "magazine outside the party".
At that time, these non-party magazines were independently distributed around the cultural organs of the Kuomintang government and were "prohibited reading materials."
Huang Zhixian not only bought it for her father to see, she also watched it herself, and over time, she herself was also influenced by the non-party movement in Taiwan.
Therefore, he was dissatisfied with the martial law in the two Chiang Kai-shek era and the dominance of the Kuomintang as a single party to suppress other parties.
In her later words, she believed that the non-Party movement at that time was not only against the Kuomintang, but essentially against the reaction of Chiang Kai-shek's Kuomintang, speaking out for the ordinary people, and that it was completely different from the various movements advocated by the Green Camp forces headed by the DPP.
Huang Zhixian not only cares about the current situation, but also reads very hard.
In the middle school entrance examination, she was admitted to Taipei No. 1 Middle School with high scores.
This high school is the best female high school in Taiwan, and the so-called "Presidential Palace" is across the road from the school.
If Huang Zhixian has been studying hard, she is likely to enter Taiwan's top universities after graduating from high school.
But unfortunately, perhaps because she was too enthusiastic about politics, Huang Zhixian in high school did not spend her energy on her studies, but wrote articles like crazy, causing her studies to plummet.
When Huang Zhixian saw the situation, he suggested that Huang Zhixian study medicine and become a doctor in the future, but Huang Zhixian refused.
Soon, she dropped out of high school in her second year of high school.
During that time, she worked as a waiter at a restaurant, drove a taxi, went to an electronics factory, worked as a painter, and weed out on the highway.
In this experience of dropping out of school to work, Huang Zhixian did not make any money.
For this experience, Huang Zhixian later recalled: "I was not experiencing life, but looking for the meaning of life."
She has experienced the difficulty of surviving at the bottom of society, and has deepened her willingness to speak out for the bottom and vulnerable groups in the future.
In 1987, Huang Zhixian stumbled upon the fact that the classmates who had attended high school with her had already graduated from college.
She began to feel anxious and decided to go back to school to finish high school.
Before that, she had experienced 7 years of part-time work.
In 1989, after completing high school at the age of 25, Huang Zhixian decided to take his savings to the United States and the United Kingdom to study, and eventually got a master's degree from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom.
When she finished her studies and returned to Taiwan, the social atmosphere on the island also quietly changed.
First Chiang Ching-kuo died in 1988, and Taiwan completely ended the martial law era.
Subsequently, Lee Teng-hui divided the Blue Camp, the Kuomintang was seriously injured, and the Green Camp rose.
Huang Zhixian became a business executive in those days, invested in the Internet, and was an ordinary office worker.
But in 2003, when Song Meiling died, many Green Camp people celebrated her and even physically attacked Song Meiling, Huang Zhixian could not sit still.
She called the Zhongshi Evening News and sprayed the main writer for two hours.
The editor-in-chief who answered the phone helplessly said that since you are not satisfied, you have the ability to write about Song Meiling.
Unexpectedly, Huang Zhixian took it seriously and handed over an article to the "Mid-Night Times" the next day.
She herself subsequently became a special commentator for the newspaper.
And began to publish books to promote their views.
The 2004 election strengthened her determination to get involved in politics.
This year, after the 3.19 shooting, Dpp member Chen Shui-bian became the leader of the Taiwan region by virtue of public opinion.
Huang Zhixian believes that in the 3.19 incident, Chen Shui-bian and his wife were shot and attacked by gunmen in advance, in order to win the sympathy of the people and change the unfavorable situation of the election.
Huang Zhixian was angry at Chen Shui-bian's administration.
She took part in a political discussion program in 2006 to lash out at Chen Shui-bian.
Since then, he has stepped into the media industry and gradually become a "famous mouth" of Taiwan's political theory.
2, mixed reviews
In Taiwan, the public is very keen to discuss the situation on television and in the online media.
There are also many television stations on the island that will set up special political discussion programs and invite some well-known people in the political, academic, and business circles to stand on the platform.
And the hosts and some guests of these programs, if they attract social attention and have a certain popularity, they will become "famous mouths".
In recent years, zhao shaokang and Tang Xianglong, who are more famous on the island, belong to this category.
As a famous official, Huang Zhixian is not a professional media person.
Even she herself admits that she is not an eloquent, she just wants to sincerely convey the facts to the audience.
From writing books and publishing books in 2004 to participating in the "Flattening" activity in 2006, Huang Zhixian has changed from an ordinary professional woman to a hot figure concerned by the people on the island in 2 years
She is known for her sharp rhetoric, her firm stance against cross-strait reunification, one China, and against corruption and lazy government.
For example, in March 2015, ko wen-che (now mayor of Taipei), a prominent politician on the island, vigorously publicized that his grandfather, a victim of the February 28 incident, was killed by a Kuomintang strike in 1947.
But Huang Zhixian exposed Ke Wenzhe's lies.
The article stated that Ko Wenzhe's grandfather was an "imperial citizen" who actively defected to the colonial authorities during the Japanese era, and his death was due to tuberculosis, not the 2.28 incident.
And Ke Wenzhe's talk about 2.28 is nothing more than using the history of 2.28 to punch the blue camp in the face and win the votes of the people of this province.
For example, in February 2019, Taiwan's so-called "chief executive" Su Zhenchang compared the relationship between Taiwan and the mainland to "Nazi Germany and Britain during World War II", and he also said: "If the two sides of the strait start fighting, give me a broom and I will fight with him."
As a result, Su Zhenchang expressed to the people on the island that he was not afraid of the mainland and dared to "fight to the death" image.
However, Huang Zhixian unceremoniously criticized Su Zhenchang, saying that Su Zhenchang's British argument against Nazi Germany did not conform to the reality of cross-strait relations at all, and questioned what time and space Su Zhenchang "lived in exactly".
Also in February, because Huang Zhixian said on the show that "without the mainland, Taiwan cannot survive."
She was complained about by the Communications commission and warned her of being "too pro-land" and suspected of civil unrest.
In this regard, Huang Zhixian was not nervous at all, she said: "What is wrong with my relatives, I myself am Chinese, living on Chinese soil, not pro-China, who do I kiss?" ”
In Huang Zhixian's view, today's DPP has lost the spirit of the extra-party movement on the island in the 1980s and 1990s, and has become a force that provokes ethnic contradictions, class contradictions and separatism.
As a media person, it is necessary for her to convey the real situation to the people.
In July 2017, with the support of Zhongtian Television, Huang Zhixian served as the host of the political discussion program "Night Question and Fight Rights", which specially commented on current affairs on the island.
However, due to Huang Zhixian's repeated emphasis on one country, two systems and reunification in the program, the program received many complaints, and Zhongtian Television was forced to close the program under pressure.
But this did not hinder Huang Zhixian's position, and she soon launched two programs on the mainland platform and YouTube, "Huang Zhixian Chat" and "Night Question" respectively, to continue to convey the idea of cross-strait reunification to the people.
It can be seen that Huang Zhixian has great perseverance and will not easily succumb to external forces.
However, it is regrettable that after years of "localization education," many people on the island lack feelings for the mainland, and the island's political arena has never changed its pro-US and pro-Japanese mentality of alienating the mainland.
As a result, Huang Zhixian was also pressured by many opposition forces on the island.
Huang Zhixian admitted that every time she went on the show, it was like going to the battlefield.
Although some people like her show, she is also often spat on subway cars and on the streets.
In December 2021, Huang Zhixian was insulted by opponents on the island for attending an annual theme conference of the Global Times and presiding over the topic of "How Much Hope for Peaceful Reunification of the Two Sides of the Strait" at the meeting.
They claimed that Huang had violated the interests of the islanders and that she should be arrested under the National Security Law.
Some radical deep greenery on the island identified Huang Zhixian as "sent by the mainland to engage in information warfare" and included her in the "Top Ten Internal Traitors" along with Qiu Yi, Hong Xiuzhu, Yu Muming, and others.
Not only that, because Huang Zhixian adheres to the unified route, he also has conflicts with his own family, resulting in a discordant relationship between his parents and her.
Huang Zhixian's brother, Huang Weizhe, even threatened to publish a newspaper and sever his family relationship with her.
After all, except for Huang Zhixian, who was a reunification faction, everyone else in the Huang family was a green camp person.
3,Mr. Huang's family
Huang Zhixian's elder brother, Huang Weizhe, is a cadre member of the DPP political arena.
Born in 1963, Wong initially planned to succeed his son as a doctor.
So after graduating from National Taiwan University, he went to the United States to study and obtained a master's degree in public health from Yale University.
Later, he wanted to participate in the administration, so he joined the Democratic Progressive Party and joined the Green Camp.
He successively served as a deputy to the National Assembly and a member of the Tainan Legislature.
In Taiwan's "nine-in-one" election in 2018, Huang Weizhe became the mayor of Tainan with a large number of votes, becoming an important force in the DPP at the local level.
In the DPP, Huang Weizhe is regarded as a person who does not like to get involved in factional struggles.
But in fact, Huang Weizhe and DPP bigwig Lai Qingde are very close, and Tsai Ing-wen also regards Huang Weizhe as a close confidant.
In terms of the blue-green struggle, Huang Weizhe's attitude is quite tough, which does not fit his medical background and gentle image at all.
In July 2010, during a meeting of the Legislative Yuan, DPP democrats surrounded the "rostrum" and physically clashed with blue camp lawmakers.
Huang Weizhe also bravely scrambled to be the first, took the timer in his hand and smashed it at Kuomintang lawmaker Wu Yusheng, causing Wu Yusheng to be injured and stitched eight stitches.
In 2017, Huang Weizhe publicly accused the KMT of frequently accepting underworld figures to participate in politics in that year's election for party leaders.
He made harsh remarks, saying that a large number of underworld personnel joining the Blue Camp would allow the mainland to "infiltrate" the island's political arena through the underworld.
Not only that, Huang Weizhe also said that there will be no problem in importing Lai pig imports to the United States in 2020, claiming that there will be no problem with the import of Lai pig, and the Continental Army aircraft warships will have a greater impact on the island.
This remark is obviously creating a "mainland threat theory" to cover up the island's policies.
With such a dark green brother, it is no wonder that Huang Zhixian's brothers and sisters will have a discordant relationship.
Huang Zhixian's younger brother, Su Ziyun, is also a green camp person.
Su Ziyun, who has a master's degree from Harvard University, has long served as an expert at tamkang University's Integration Strategy Center, and later became a researcher of Taiwan's so-called "National Security Committee" and "National Defense Advisory Committee", and is a think tank expert of the Democratic Progressive Party.
Su Ziyun's stand is also mainly pro-US and anti-mainland, and he often exaggerates Taiwan's military strength and propagates the "mainland threat theory."
For example, in a 2018 program, Su Ziyun declared that Taiwan could destroy the Three Gorges Dam by firing two missiles, attracting a wave of criticism.
In June last year, in order to give the Tsai Ing-wen authorities a large number of purchases of U.S.-made Javelins and Tao-style anti-tank missiles.
Su Ziyun claimed that once the mainland conducts beachhead operations, they can deploy a large number of anti-tank missiles on the beachhead, killing and injuring a large number of landing ships and armored vehicles.
Su Ziyun also stressed that in this tactic of "using land to control the sea," Taiwan is even 25 years ahead of the US military, and a joint battalion of the Taiwan army can block a composite brigade on the mainland.
Of course, this statement may not be true.
Relying only on Taiwan's current strength and the will to fight of soldiers on the island, maintaining a large number of US-made anti-tank missiles will not allow them to gain an advantage on the battlefield.
Also last year, Su Ziyun said in November that the PLA's capabilities were not sufficient to rival those of the U.S. military, or even to overwhelm Taiwan.
Because in his view, the mainland has the ability to fight regionally, but the overall strength is not enough to cope with large-scale war, in case the United States and Japan end, Taiwan can not be affected by the mainland.
This statement was criticized by Huang Zhixian.
Huang Zhixian criticized Su Ziyun for being "too frivolous in her words and deeds," too much in the United States and Japan, and too much in her sense of national identity.
Huang Zhixian also said: "What do you mean when you talk about 'cross-strait war', that is, you have engaged in Taiwan independence in Taiwan and foreign forces have intervened." If the United States and Japan come to 'aid' Taiwan, it is not 'aid', it is to plunge Taiwan into the sea of fire. Su Ziyun, I am very sorry that you support Taiwan independence and support the Democratic Progressive Party. ”
However, Su Ziyun seems to have ignored her sister's painstaking teachings, and she is still a powerful leader in the Green Camp think tank.
Aside from Huang Weizhe and Su Ziyun, Huang Zhixian also has a cousin in a high position, Huang Chongyan.
This person is also a DPP member, a dark green politician.
He once served as Tsai Ing-wen's "spokesperson" and is now the director of Tsai Ing-wen's office, belonging to the Tsai government's cronies.
It is not difficult to see from Huang Zhixian's relatives that the Huang family is already a dark green elite family on the island and has a lot of influence.
Huang Zhixian's ability to unify his heart and identify with the motherland in a green environment is really valuable.
So, what motivated Huang Zhixian to overcome the pressure of his family and all parties and adhere to the idea of cross-strait reunification?
4. Revelation
For this issue, Huang Zhixian has talked about two details.
The first is a change in the concept of cognition.
When she was a child, she said, Taiwanese often said, "How do we Chinese," and now many people have become "how are we in Taiwan."
It was this change that made many separatists want to move, and she could not tolerate it.
The second thing is closely related to the history of suffering.
While studying in the UK, Huang Zhixian visited the British Museum with friends.
She saw that there were many cultural relics stolen by the British and French armies and the Eight-Nation Alliance in the museum in the United Kingdom, and she was not mentally prepared, and when she saw this, she cried instantly.
It can be seen that she resonates with the humiliation suffered by the Chinese nation in history.
It is precisely because of this strong sense of identification with history, the country and the nation that she overcame all kinds of pressures and became a staunch unification fighter.
Regarding the relations between Taiwan and the mainland, Huang Zhixian said more than once that "the only thing in the world that is really good for Taiwan is the mainland."
She said bluntly: "The mainland knows the value of Taiwan and the preservation of Chinese culture in Taiwan, which has not been destroyed now, and also knows Taiwan's unique experience." Every mainland friend I know cherishes it very much, and only the Taiwanese themselves do not cherish it. ”
Time flies, and today's Taiwan, after more than 40 years of competition between the blue and green factions, has placed more and more emphasis on "localization", resulting in many young people lacking recognition of the mainland and lacking the vision of an objective view of the mainland.
In order to correct this trend, establish a national identity for the people on the island, and ultimately promote cross-strait reunification, it is inseparable from the guidance of the cultural circles.
The future of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait needs more people like Huang Zhixian to speak out.
