If Taiwan's system remains unchanged and the military is retained, will the mainland agree? This is the method proposed by Huang Zhenghui, a retired colonel in Taiwan, in a 2022 political talk program in Taiwan, which he thinks is the "best of both worlds."

We all know that it has been more than 40 years since the mainland proposed "peaceful reunification and one country, two systems," and it was formulated specifically for the purpose of resolving the Taiwan issue, but the Taiwan issue has not been resolved for a long time. Facts have proved that after Hong Kong and Macao returned to the motherland, they have maintained long-term prosperity and stability with the motherland as their backing.
However, one country, two systems and Huang Zhenghui's reservation system and the army are two different things. If the Taiwan authorities really make such a request to the mainland, will the mainland agree?
The Taiwan question
The United States has relied on the "Taiwan card" to continuously interfere in China's internal affairs, while the DPP authorities have cooperated with the United States in deliberately creating tension in the Taiwan Strait, just to drag down China's development speed. Today's mainland far surpasses Taiwan in terms of economy, military, and science and technology. With the strength of the People's Liberation Army, if Taiwan is really to be liberated, it would be good if the Taiwan army could hold out for 24 hours.
The United States and the West have also been hyping that "China will reunify Taiwan in 2027". As a result, many Taiwan political discussion programs have discussed that rational people believe that if the PLA attacks Taiwan, the Taiwan army will not have the strength to fight back at all, and it is better to surrender, while the pro-green camp people believe that as long as the Taiwan army can support the first wave of the PLA's attack and hold out until the US military is defeated, Taiwan will be able to win.
However, the real situation is that the US think tank military exercises have failed miserably. As far as the mainland is concerned, the people of Taiwan are also our compatriots, and we can peacefully reunify Taiwan with the greatest sincerity, but if we really go to the last step, reunification by force is not inevitable, but it is the ordinary people who suffer from the war.
In recent months, the situation in the Taiwan Strait has continued to heat up, and tension has even reached the point of saber rattling. People have called for cross-strait reunification, but the Taiwan issue is complicated and has a long history. In February 1949, Chairman Mao mentioned the Taiwan issue when he met with secretly visiting representatives of the Central Committee of the CPSU.
Chairman Mao pointed out that half of China's territory has not yet been liberated, and it is relatively easy to solve it on land, as long as the army is sent over. But it was not so simple to solve the problem on the island, not only the remnants of the Kuomintang had to retreat there, but the United States was also secretly interfering in the matter. So it will take a long time to resolve the Taiwan issue.
Despite this, Chairman Mao never gave up his efforts to resolve the Taiwan issue. On January 7, 1950, Chairman Mao and others had a heated discussion on the issue of China's restoration of its seat in the United Nations. Eventually, Premier Zhou made a statement to the UN Security Council that only the government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government that can represent all the people of China.
In fact, this also alludes to the mainland's attitude, that is, there can only be one China in the United Nations. When they learned that Chairman Mao linked the Taiwan issue with the United Nations issue, they began to vigorously proclaim in the international community that the two Chinas and the DPRK and the ROK are the same concept. But is that really the case?
In fact, these two things are completely different things, and the DPRK and the ROK have been recognized by international regulations. However, the argument of two Chinas is completely false, and the mainland has always adhered to the one-China principle. Therefore, these two things cannot be confused, and the practices of the United States and those Western countries are very dirty.
On September 30, 1958, Chairman Mao met with the Indonesian president who was visiting China, and the two again discussed the issue of China's restoration of its seat in the United Nations. Indonesia's president expressed support for China's reinstatement at the United Nations, and Chairman Mao responded, once again emphasizing that there can only be one China at the United Nations.
The two met again three years later, and when talking about the Taiwan issue, Chairman Mao said that Taiwan's return to the motherland could preserve its social system, and that the issue would be resolved by the Taiwanese people themselves. Later, the mainland's policy toward Taiwan also changed, from "peaceful liberation" to "peaceful settlement."
In 1982, Deng Xiaoping put forward the idea of "one country, two systems". This also proves that he has the same attitude as Chairman Mao, that Taiwan can retain its own social system. Looking at it this way, one of the conditions for the return put forward by retired Taiwan Colonel Huang Zhenghui is quite in line with the actual situation.

Subsequently, he put forward those two conditions: The first can be implemented if the original system is retained, but what about the second? Can Taiwan's armed forces be retained?

Obviously, this is not possible. A country has only one army, and if Taiwan retains its army, what is the difference between it and the current non-reunification and non-independence?
Moreover, the mission of military personnel is to defend the homeland and the country, and the existence of the Taiwan military is to resist the mainland and the reunification of the two sides of the strait. If such an army is really retained, isn't this a hidden danger? Although the Taiwan army is really crushed, it is like an amateur against the national team in front of the PLA.
Some Taiwanese locals even jokingly called the Taiwan military's military exercises pediatric. This is because during the Taiwan military exercises, there were still people in the vicinity who were carrying out their daily activities, and they were not affected by the exercises in the slightest. But in fact, when conducting military exercises, it is necessary to disperse the crowd, because these are all real guns and ammunition, and it is necessary to avoid harming the masses.
However, this is the case with the Taiwan military exercise, and many netizens have sharply commented that it is because we are too weak that we do not need to remind others to pay attention to safety? But in any case, when encountering military exercises, we should still spontaneously stay away and retreat to a safe area. All in all, the People's Liberation Army must be stationed in Taiwan, and there is naturally no need for the Taiwan military to exist.
Because the United States has always been eyeing Taiwan, if the remaining Taiwan military "belongs to the United States," this will not be a good thing, and it will also cause unnecessary trouble. Not only that, but the Taiwan armed forces should hand over all their weapons before they retire, not to mention that the mainland does not allow private individuals to possess weapons.
If the retired Taiwan military is allowed to take away the weapons, the weapons will be brought into life, and that will be an extremely dangerous factor. Regardless of whether the gun is aimed at the people or the PLA, this situation must never happen. But it is not easy to achieve a thorough inventory of weapons.
Because the United States has been trying by all means to meddle in the Taiwan issue, arms sales to Taiwan are a very important support, and the United States does not want China's reunification, nor does it want Taiwan's weapons to fall into the hands of the PLA, although the PLA does not look down on these castrated versions.
But what is scary is not the so-called external forces, but the unevenness of the hearts of the insiders. As long as the Taiwan military can see the current situation clearly, not accept the brainwashing of the United States, not be used as a gun by Taiwan independence, and abide by the mainland's regulations, then these problems will be easily solved. At that time, we will actively cooperate with the surrender of weapons, and the United States will retire.
You must know that safeguarding the reunification of the motherland is not just a matter for the mainland, but also something that every Chinese son and daughter should do. However, the cooperation of the Taiwan military is only a conjecture, and it depends on the specific trend of history; after all, under the "coercion" of the United States and the Taiwan authorities, we cannot predict what changes the Taiwan military will make and what development it will have.
Some experts have mentioned earlier that if the Taiwan military does not pose a threat to the mainland, then it can be retained. However, judging from the current situation, the existence of the Taiwan military is still a potential threat.
Cross-strait reunification
As mentioned earlier, the Taiwan military should see the situation clearly and not become cannon fodder for the DPP. And some people in Taiwan have also fallen into the DPP's situation, and they do not know it. They should see the truth clearly and not be deceived by the illusion created by those with bad intentions. Some people have a bad impression of the mainland, and some Taiwan media have smeared the mainland.
These media distort the facts and deliberately blacken the image of the mainland, not knowing what benefits they will do in doing so, but they just want to lead more Taiwanese people in this way. The most odious thing is that the Taiwan authorities have gone so far as to extend such claws to schools. It is said that education should be grasped from an early age, and they have grasped this point.
Taiwan independence elements have gone to campuses to inculcate the "Taiwan independence" culture in ignorant and ignorant students, revised the contents of their textbooks, and downplayed the "one-China" principle. These students have not yet set foot in society, and they do not understand these doorways. They may not even know that this is a conspiracy, but they only know that they have someone to teach them "knowledge".
Therefore, there are many young people from Taiwan among the Taiwan independence elements, and many young people have been led astray. Fortunately, however, most people are committed to the reunification of the motherland, because there are still many people who support Taiwan's return, and they will also bring their families and friends to join the ranks calling for the reunification of the motherland.
What's more, they will take part in some patriotic activities, publicize patriotic education, and encourage more people to love the country. And now that the Internet is so developed, you can learn about the real appearance of the mainland on the Internet. This is also a two-way street, and the people of Taiwan have worked hard to bring more people to understand the mainland, and the mainland has been making efforts.
The mainland often engages in cultural exchanges with Taiwan, such as holding lectures and seminars. Such efforts have not been in vain, and through continuous cross-strait exchanges, more and more people have learned about the mainland's culture and development, and they have become more yearning for the mainland. Because they found that the mainland is not as reported by some Taiwanese media.
Life on the mainland is very convenient, the economic standard is particularly high, and there are better opportunities for development on the mainland. Taiwan's return to the motherland can also alleviate some problems that plague the masses, such as the export of Taiwan's fruits, most of Taiwan's fruits are exported to the mainland, and if the two sides fall out, the income of Taiwan's fruit farmers may be greatly reduced. There are also local power and water problems in Taiwan waiting for a good solution to be solved.
All in all, there are only advantages to the reunification of the two sides of the strait with Taiwan, and there is no harm. This will not only improve the living standards of the people in Taiwan, but also promote its economic development. And on April 1 this year, Ma Ying-jeou visited the mainland with the Taiwan Youth League. In his view, the sooner young people on both sides of the strait exchange each other, the less likely it is that future conflicts will occur.
Today, more and more people are looking forward to the early reunification of the motherland, and Taiwan's return to China not only guarantees the territorial integrity of the mainland, but also the hope of every Chinese, and is also a key step in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Because the sovereignty of a country is inviolable, it is not the turn of other countries to meddle in our affairs. Peaceful reunification or military reunification is only a means, the goal is reunification, and in order to accomplish the great cause of the motherland's reunification, the Chinese people are willing to pay a certain price.
