Time flies, and the high-scoring oak who loves badminton has reached the age of the back. As a veteran of the Beijing Elderly Team, he has been integrating badminton into his life for decades. Without introduction, it is difficult for others to see that the spiritually strong Gao Jin oak is already 90 years old. Gao Jinbai admits that he is a "old man", but he seems to have a set of dialectical views on sports and age that have been personally practiced.

"People praised me like a young man, and that was fooling me. To be old is to be old, but don't always think that you are old, you have to do what you can. Although the movement is slow and the reaction is slow, I also make a slow response. My brain, eyes, and limbs are moving, and who says that such slow movement is not moving! "The enthusiasm and open-mindedness in his bones make Gao Jinbai optimistic to face life, and he interprets the old and the old, the old and the happy with love in the world of badminton."

Speaking of the relationship between the elderly and badminton, it goes back to the 1950s. At that time, he was sent to Indonesia as a confidential officer at the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia. During those five years, badminton became the preferred activity for high-aged and old amateurs to relax. He recalled that badminton players can be found everywhere in Indonesia, and most people will have badminton nets. At that time, there were also two venues in the courtyard of the Chinese Embassy, and his badminton skills were personally taught by Huang Shuhai, an Indonesian overseas Chinese. "At the Bandung Conference that year, Huang Shuhai served as Premier Zhou Enlai's interpreter, and I was also arranged to put a dark post on the roof of the prime minister's residence at night. "After experiencing special years, the elderly know how to cherish it. He said: "Today's good days are not easy to come by, so even if I am old, I still have to be with the old, and there is no reason not to live every day happily." ”

Gao Lao left in 1988, and at that time, he ran through many hospitals and saw many Chinese medicines due to herniation of the lumbar disc, bone hyperplasia, and leg joint pain. He tried magnetic therapy, electrotherapy, acupuncture, massage, all of which were temporarily improved, but could not solve the fundamental problem. The doctor told him to rest and not to do strenuous exercise. For more than a year, the elderly were recuperating, but the waist and leg pain did not get better. When he was young, he benefited from exercise, and after a long period of lack of exercise, he obviously felt weak and mentally ill, and even his meals were not as fragrant as before. Thinking that he could not go on like this, he turned over the dusty badminton racket and tried to move.

At first, the senior did not dare to let go of the activity. Because I have not exercised for a long time, I feel somewhat uncomfortable during the recovery phase. After playing for a while, he found that his waist and legs were neither worse nor better, so he decided to continue exercising and increase the amount little by little. Call three or four times a week for about 2 hours. It is such perseverance that so far, the elder has insisted on playing for more than thirty years.

After entering the Beijing elderly badminton team, the life of the senior is more abundant. He has participated in the National Senior Badminton Competition and the Global Chinese Cup Badminton Competition, and has won 9 first places, 2 second places and 2 third places in the men's doubles and mixed doubles competitions in the 140, 160 and 170 age groups. With his love for badminton, he was awarded the title of "Amateur Badminton Athlete" by the Chinese Badminton Association, and in recent years, he has also been awarded the title of "National Healthy Elderly" and "Health Star" issued by the Bureau of Old Cadres in Beijing.

Now, the 90-year-old is still happy to meet friends with the ball. The Beijing senior team played with him, both old friends of similar age, and many young people learned to play with him. Usually, the senior will take the new people to play ball and teach basic footwork and techniques. Gao Lao said humorously: "Playing with me, they can't kill the ball, they need to play the control ball with me, which can not only consolidate their basic technical movements, but also enrich our activities." ”

In 2020, when the epidemic struck, The elder also suspended his badminton practice for a period of time, but he would ride a small tricycle around the army compound twice a day. He saw many children who had been suspended from school because of the epidemic playing badminton in the open space, and he had an idea, "Organize them and teach them some basic movements and badminton techniques." Elder Gao first went to the two leaders of the unit and suggested that a badminton court be painted in the open space of the small garden in the courtyard, although the size was not standard enough, but at least enough for children. The elder bought a net from his own pocket, and the property staff hit the ground pile on both sides, plugged in the water pipe, pulled the net, and the simplest badminton court was built.

In those days, every morning and afternoon, children came to learn badminton. Some adults ask what are the conditions for learning to play and how to charge. The old man said: no charge, bring the racket; come and go freely, and set the time of playing by yourself.

In order to make it easier for the children to use the ball, the elder used a tricycle to transport basket after basket of badminton. He said the balls were old balls collected from the senior team and the sons' club, enough for the children to practice. On the court, the senior elder has strict requirements for the children, to line up in an orderly manner to train, and not to talk freely during the practice. But this does not affect the boys and girls in the compound who look forward to meeting Grandpa Gao every day and competing with him to test their skills. Sometimes, parents and even neighbors can get infected and participate in the practice team. Elder Gao said that after nearly a year of practice, he did find that two or three children showed a better sense of the ball. Mentioning this, his face could not help but raise a little relief.

Since the badminton court in the compound was built, more and more children will take the initiative to greet the elderly when they meet them. Sometimes children will say, "Grandpa Gao, I've told you my name a hundred times, and you haven't remembered it yet." He would laugh and reply, "I also taught that action a hundred times, and you didn't learn it." The old man who laughed while talking showed a childish side, and the "passing move" that wanted to come to the field was also the source code of the old man's happiness.

Now that it is time for the winter vacation, the figure of the elderly and the children on the court will become a beautiful scenery in the compound.
