At the Kirsty home, all the boys go to bed at 8:30 p.m. She prepared three bunk beds for her younger children, with the eldest son having his own room and the younger son sleeping in a cot.

At the beginning of the day, Kirsty prepares breakfast and lunch first. Older boys were asked to pack their own lunch boxes. "I always check what they pack, but it's important to let them know about responsibility," she said. After dropping the kids off at school, she started making the bed, cleaning the kitchen, and quickly ate a breakfast before continuing to tidy up the rest of the house.

Having a large family comes with high costs, including weekly bills, Christmas gifts, and birthday gifts. Costing an average of $500 a week at the supermarket, Kirsty buys discounted ingredients such as meat and staples in large quantities.
