Rizin Thor 35 will be held on April 17 at the Musashino Forest Sports Plaza in Chofu City, Japan, and the official announcement of three championship gold belt title battles, three of which are two revenge battles.
The first was the RIZIN Lightweight Championship Tournament, in which current champion Roberto Satoshi Souza (13-1, 4 K, 9 S) played a second game against challenger Johnny Case (27-7-1, 19 K, 4 S). Sosa suffered his first career defeat in October 2019 by Case's first-leg TKO, and since then, Sousa has won four straight games, including tofiq Musayev, who won the RIZIN lightweight championship gold belt in the first set last June, and just successfully defended the title in the second set in December. Case's most recent match since the first TKO TKO was lost by Tofi Moussaf in the first TKO in December 2019.
Then there was the RIZIN Featherweight Championship Championship, where current champion Juntaro Ushiku (19-6, 6 K, 0 S) played against challenger former champion Yutaka Saito (20-6-2, 5 K, 2 S). Saito Hiroshi won the RIZIN featherweights gold belt in 2020 with a point victory over Mikuru Asakura, lost the title in October 2021 by Ushiku Takuro in the second set TKO, and just lost to Asakura Mirai in December last year. After defeating Hiroshi Saito to win the RIZIN featherweights gold belt, Ukushiro narrowly defeated Kouya Kanda in December.
Finally, the RIZIN Women's Super Atomic Weight Championship Tournament, in which current champion Ayaka Hamasaki (23-4, 3 K, 10 S) played against challenger unbeaten rising star Seika Izawa (5-0, 1 K, 1 S). The two sides just had a titleless super battle last December, with Izawa Star Blossom winning the second leg TKO.
