Originally, the Taiwan authorities planned to purchase another 66 F-16V fighters from the United States through a special budget of NT$250 billion and planned to deploy them in the Taitung region. However, according to a report by the Us "New York Times" on March 7, the US side intends to transfer the batch of fighters to the Taiwan authorities to Poland. As soon as this news came out, it triggered a wide range of hot discussions among netizens on the island. Some netizens on the island left messages under relevant reports to ridicule the DPP authorities, "Being an outcast does not require too complicated a process." Some netizens have pointed their spearhead at the United States, bluntly saying that the United States is accustomed to playing the drama of borrowing a knife to kill people, not taking the lives of the people of other countries seriously, being careful to play over the fire, and playing on its own head one day.
Obviously, once the United States really transfers the F-16 fighters sold to Poland, Taiwan's so-called "Phoenix Exhibition Plan" will not be able to be successfully completed. Moreover, Poland's "cutting off beard" will at least make the Taiwan authorities wait for several more years. What is even more indignant is that the Taiwan authorities spent real money and silver to buy fighters from the United States at a high price, while the F-16V given by the United States to Poland was "compensated" for zero yuan. But in fact, the United States has also released bait to the Ukrainian side. At the beginning, Ukraine announced that it planned to receive 70 fighters of various types, including MiG-29 fighters and Su-25 attack aircraft, from the European Union as a supplement to the war losses of the Ukrainian Air Force in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and this idea on the Ukrainian side was soon splashed with a basin of cold water by EU member states. For its part, the United States does not want Ukraine to lose quickly in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict because of the shortage of warplanes. Therefore, the United States has also spent a lot of effort in finding supply fighters for the Ukrainian Air Force. In the process of finding a third party, the United States set its sights on Poland.
In addition, in support of the Ukrainian Air Force, Blinken also released bait to the Ukrainian side. A few days ago, after meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Culleba, US Secretary of State Blinken frankly said that the United States is negotiating with Poland on the filling of Ukrainian warplanes. That is to say, if, according to Blinken, Poland supplied Ukraine with 31 Russian-made MiG-29 fighters in active service in its air force, and as a "compensation" to Poland, the United States would provide Poland with American-made F-16 fighters.
The problem, however, is that many of these F-16s were pledged by the United States earlier to sell to Taiwan. So why did the United States abandon the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Taiwan in order to support Ukraine? First of all, the Russian-made MiG-29 fighter jets supplied to Ukraine by Poland were themselves one of Ukraine's main fighters, which allowed the Ukrainian Air Force to quickly get started and devote itself to the war against Russia.
