Newly formed company Postcard Game Studio announced that it has secured a $3.5 million seed investment. The recently formed developer received funding from Smilegate, the South Korean publisher behind The Lost Ark.

California-based Postcard Game Studio was founded in January by CEO and Game Director Ray Almaden. During his 17-year career, he has designed games for companies such as Sony, Microsoft and Ubisoft.

"Knowing the games we're going to make with the studio and culture we're building will give us an opportunity to take our years of experience to the next level, especially with smilegate's support, who is helping to realize our vision," almaden says. ”

He was joined by a leadership team of Narrative Director Ariadna C. Martinez, Studio Technical Director Glen Darroch and Lead Designer Justin Lippert. The team will also include lead environmental artist Martin Teichmann, lead level designer Dan Callan, lead producer Tommy Blashaw and lead mission designer Lizzie Siegel.

The development studio also said it is currently working on an unpublished open-world, first-person shooter role-playing game.
