In the early morning of March 9, Beijing time, the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals was contested. In a focus battle in this round, Liverpool played at home and they were challenged by Inter Milan. In the 59th minute Lautaro turned inside the penalty area and fired a shot that was slightly offside. The deadlock was broken in the 61st minute and Lautaro fired from his feet on the edge of the penalty area, the ball hanging straight into the dead corner of the goal, and Inter Milan took a 1-0 lead. In the 63rd minute, Sanchez brought down Fabinho, two yellows and one red were sent off, and Inter was one less person on the pitch. In the 76th minute Salah fired inside the penalty area and the ball hit the upright again.
In the end, the 90-minute match was over, and Inter Milan won 1-0 against Liverpool on the road with Lautaro's goal. After losing this game, Liverpool's previous 16 unbeaten games in all competitions were ended. But on aggregate over two legs, Liverpool eliminated Inter Milan 2-1 and made it to the quarter-finals of this season's Champions League.
