Today, tens of millions of people in the world still live in extremely difficult circumstances and suffer emotionally. In daily life, adults also often encounter various emotional problems.

The World Health Organization wrote guidelines for the cure of adversity | published by the Problem Manager (PM+).

The term "adversity" is often used to describe the difficult situation described above.

People in adversity are more likely to have mental health and social problems, but this group rarely receives appropriate counseling. As a result, the World Health Organization (WHO) has written a guidebook for problem managers (PM+) to provide psychological counseling for people in adversity.

Problem Management Plus (PM+) is a short-term, effective, manual, practical psychological intervention developed by the World Health Organization, and its effects have been verified in randomized controlled trials. It will teach people to use strategies to deal with emotional issues and practical problems in life without taking medication.

Compared with other interventions, the advantages of "problem managers" are: shorter than exposure therapy, cognitive therapy or other therapies for PTSD; patients are less likely to have symptoms worsened; can focus on multiple issues at the same time: such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc.; and can allow non-psychologically qualified individuals to provide services under the guidance of professional supervision.

In May 2018, the "Problem Manager" was introduced to China by the Psychological Crisis Intervention Working Committee of the Chinese Psychological Association, and applied and promoted. Since 2020, the series of "self-help and safety training camps" developed on the basis of its framework have played a unique role. The Chinese edition of its special instruction manual, "Problem Manager (PM+)", was officially published, helping more frontline workers and the general public face psychological problems under adversity.
