Chang Xiangyu had two daughters and one son, of which the eldest daughter Chang Xiaoyu and the second daughter Chen Xiaoxiang both inherited her mantle. Chang Xiangyu also has a granddaughter who is well known as the opera artist Xiao Xiangyu.

Xiao Xiangyu often borrowed the name of Chang Xiangyu to enjoy privileges on campus, when the students took turns to wash their socks during the accommodation, every time when it was Xiao Xiangyu's turn to wash, she did not wash it, and everyone did not dare to complain when they saw that she was Chang Xiangyu's granddaughter.
Xiao Xiangyu liked to be mischievous when she went to school, but her academic performance has always been excellent, and sometimes it makes the teacher cry and laugh. Her body flexibility is excellent, and Chang Xiangyu has high hopes for her, hoping to one day inherit her mantle.

When she took the stage at the age of 10, she dedicated her life to art, and she hoped that she would have someone to follow. When she married her husband Chen Chen, Chen Charter already had a son, Chen Jinbang, and Chang Xiangyu regarded his stepson Chen Jinbang as his own.
When Chen Jinbang grew up, he married Chang Xiangyu's apprentice and gave birth to a daughter after marriage, who was Xiao Xiangyu. Unexpectedly, Chang Xiangyu especially loved her granddaughter Xiao Xiangyu.
Although Xiao Xiangyu is not her own granddaughter, Xiao Xiangyu is the same as her own disposition. In Chang Xiangyu's eyes, Xiao Xiangyu is a rare good seedling, especially in the performance of Yu opera.
She decided to take Xiao Xiangyu as an apprentice. The young Xiangyu gladly agreed, and followed Chang Xiangyu to concentrate on learning Yu opera. Under the careful teaching of Chang Xiangyu, Xiao Xiangyu became popular in 1980 when she starred in "Mulan".
Chang Xiangyu renamed her "Xiao Xiangyu", with the intention of hoping that Xiao Xiangyu could carry forward the Changpai Yu opera as she did, and strongly requested that Xiao Xiangyu be able to frequently present the three tracks of "Kao Hong", "The Legend of the White Snake" and "Mulan" to the majority of opera fans in the future.
Xiao Xiangyu made a promise to abide by the agreement with Chang Xiangyu, and Chang Xiangyu took Xiao Xiangyu to his home to teach him personally, but Xiao Xiangyu's childlike heart could not bear the control and fled Chang Xiangyu's home in the middle of the night.
Chang Xiangyu refused to give up on this, she was even more strict with Xiao Xiangyu, and Xiao Xiangyu would get Careful Orders from Chang Xiangyu in every play.
Kung Fu paid off, and Xiao Xiangyu became a household name for Yu opera performance artists a few years later. At this time, she did not forget her original intention and still actively ran around for the spread of Yu opera. In 1994, Xiao Xiangyu used her savings of hundreds of thousands of yuan to establish China's first Hope Art School.
At first, Xiao Xiangyu did have a grateful heart, and respectfully followed the teachings of Chang Xiangyu, concentrated on art, and actively developed Changpai Yu opera. After all, among many artists, her singing skills are not the best, and at the beginning she did use Chang Xiangyu to help her soar, one is that she is Chang Xiangyu's personal disciple;
The second is that her stage name is only one word away from Chang Xiangyu's stage name, and it was given by Chang Xiangyu herself, and people who heard her stage name naturally thought of Chang Xiangyu.

However, in just a few years, Chang Xiangyu found that his most beloved granddaughter Xiao Xiangyu was different from the past, and Xiao Xiangyu was contrary to his original intention.
From 1997, Chang Xiangyu discovered that the Yu opera that Xiao Xiangyu performed on stage was no longer pure, and new elements such as dance and martial arts were added to the middle. Although Xiao Xiangyu's performance won the applause of everyone, some of them had the ingredient of relying on the eyeballs of Chang Xiangyu.
Chang Xiangyu has a lot of criticism of Xiao Xiangyu, and she believes that the gap between the Yu opera performed by Xiao Xiangyu and the "pure Changpai Yu opera" is getting wider and wider, which is completely contrary to her original intention.
Chang Xiangyu thought about it again and again, she didn't want Xiao Xiangyu to be willful and arrogant. So she couldn't bear to question Xiao Xiangyu in person. In the face of her grandmother's questioning, Xiao Xiangyu explained: "The times have changed, your set is no longer popular, and Yu opera must also keep pace with the times." "
It turned out that in the blink of an eye for many years, the generation gap between the two grandchildren was so deep, Chang Xiangyu insisted that "Changpai Yu Opera" was absolutely pure, while Xiao Xiangyu believed that Yu Opera could only be long-term if it kept pace with the times.
The two insisted on not backing down from each other's views. As a traditional Chinese art, it has always remained pure, which is inseparable from the bitter persistence of artists such as Chang Xiangyu.
Chang Xiangyu tried to pull the "misguided" Xiao Xiangyu to the right path. However, many years later, Xiao Xiangyu did not appear in a traditional Yu opera, which made Chang Xiangyu very angry.
She hired a lawyer to draft the "Decision on Revoking xiao xiangyu's title", and she did not want her granddaughter to use xiaoxiangyu's stage name to compete for fame and profit.
Under extreme disappointment, Chang Xiangyu was forced to take back Xiao Xiangyu's stage name through legal means. Chang Xiangyu carefully read the decision and weighed it again and again before carefully signing his name.
Until his death, Chang Xiangyu could not let go of Xiao Xiangyu. However, Xiao Xiangyu still uses the name Xiao Xiangyu in public, and the lawyer said that this is not infringement.
