In 1927, Li Xiuying was born in a place called Wulidunfang opposite the old bus station in Shencheng Town, Yingshang County, to a poor family. When Li Xiuying was 4 years old, because her uncle's family had no children, she was inherited to her uncle's house in Xinji Town, followed by her uncle's surname Li, and named Li Xiuying.
The uncle's family regarded Li Xiuying as a pearl in the palm of their hand. The family has a small business in the new market town, and although the days are relatively hard, they can still maintain food and clothing.
In 1944, Li Xiuying had grown into a big girl. In the name of recruiting helpers, his father recruited a door-to-door son-in-law, this person was named Feng Xueyong. Feng Xueyong's hands and feet are sharp and practical, and the family has gradually fallen in love with this young man. Therefore, under the auspices of their parents, Li Xiuying and Feng Xueyong soon got married. In the second year of marriage, Li Xiuying gave birth to the eldest daughter. Although life is not rich, the family is happy and harmonious, and the life is harmonious and happy.

In 1946, the civil war provoked by the Kuomintang reactionaries once again dragged the lives of the people of the whole country into the shadow of war. One day in May 1946, Feng Xueyong took a boat from Xinji Town back to Yanglouzi to harvest wheat. To the point where it was time to come back, there was no shadow. The family looked around, but Feng Xueyong heard nothing, leaving no words for the family to "disappear". Li Xiuying, who is pregnant (the second daughter), decided to take on the responsibility of raising the child with her parents after crying a few times.
In 1949, Anhui ushered in liberation. The birth of New China has made the life of Li Xiuying's family look new and see new hope. Li Xiuying actively responded to the call of the party and the state and actively participated in the work of grass-roots women. Because of her outstanding work, she honorably joined the Communist Party of China the following year.

In July and August 1950, due to torrential rains, the Huai River Basin experienced exceptionally heavy flooding. Li Xiuying grew up near the Yinghe and Huaihe rivers, and has been a witness to flood disasters since childhood, but also a victim.
In 1938, in order to stop the pace of Japanese aggression, the frenzied Kuomintang government blew up the Yellow River Garden Mouth Dam, and the flood was relentless, and Li Xiuying, then 12 years old, already remembered. She recalls that when the walls of her house were washed down by the flood, the turbulent torrent washed her away at once. Just as she was being washed up to the Yinghe Dam, the desire to survive prompted her to cling to a large tree in the panic, so that she was not buried in the water of the Yellow River.
The floods of 1950 brought a test to the new republic. The flooding of the Huai River involves the hearts of leaders at all levels. The management of the Huai River has been put on the agenda. On November 6, 1950, the Zhihuai Committee was formally established in Bengbu City, which was divided into the three provinces and regions of Henan, Northern Anhui and Northern Jiangsu, responsible for planning and leading the water conservancy work in the Huai River Basin, and held the first plenary meeting in Bengbu.

After the instructions issued by the governments at all levels to resolve to repair the Huai River, Li Xiuying not only responded positively himself, but also mobilized more than 20 peasant girls to set up a small detachment. At that time, there was no large machinery, and it was all about manpower. In order to build the dam in the shortest possible time, Li Xiuying worked like a "desperate sanlang". One day, Li Xiuying broke four flat burdens and fell on the construction site several times.
Because of her great contribution to the management of the Huai River, Li Xiuying became a national labor model and became one of the characters in the documentary "We Must Manage the Huai River Well".

A soldier suddenly burst into tears as he watched, and his comrades-in-arms thought he was touched by the scene of Zhihuai. This big soldier was none other than Feng Xueyong!
It turned out that in May 1946, Feng Xueyong encountered a Kuomintang army on the way to harvest wheat, and was arrested by the other side. Feng Xueyong tried to escape back several times, but none of them succeeded. Later, during the Battle of Huaihai, the Kuomintang troops who saw that the general trend had turned against each other, and Feng Xueyong also became a glorious SOLDIER soldier with the uprising of the troops. At this time, he also gradually understood that only when his home country was peaceful, he could go back to reunite with his wife and daughter, and only when the country was stable and harmonious, could the family live a peaceful and stable life.
So Feng Xueyong resolutely threw himself into the cause of the country's liberation, and later participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, in the process, Feng Xueyong repeatedly made military achievements, and gradually grew from an ordinary PLA soldier to an excellent officer. Later, Feng Xueyong was stationed in Quanzhou with his troops.
That night, Feng Xueyong watched the documentary on the treatment of the Huai River with the troops, and when the familiar and unfamiliar figure appeared in the film, Feng Xueyong was stunned. "Could it really be her?" Feng Xueyong hesitated. And when the narrator of the film said that "the national special level zhihuai labor model, Yingshang County peasant girl Li Xiuying", Feng Xueyong could no longer hold back the tears of excitement, and could not cry on the spot. The letter went through several twists and turns, and finally came to Li Xiuying's hand. Li Xiuying, who was a little confused at first, after opening the envelope and just looking at a few lines, tears blurred her eyes... Ten years, more than three thousand days and nights! Now not a moment can be delayed! Li Xiuying immediately packed her bags and stepped onto the train heading south. Li Xiuying got out of the car, Feng Xueyong strode forward, holding hands to look at each other with tearful eyes, and the two hugged each other tightly.
