La Liga's global social media follow-up total exceeds 150 million

La Liga has a total of 150 million followers across all social media platforms, ranking third in the world, behind the NBA and Champions League, ahead of other well-known leagues such as the Premier League and the NFL.

The 150 million followers came from 23 La Liga social media accounts, including eLaLiga, FUNDACI N LaLiga and LaLigaSportsTV.

These social media accounts allow followers to browse content in 16 different languages, including Spanish, English, French, Arabic, Chinese, Israeli, Swahili and Hungarian. Not only that, La Liga also has a great influence in the world, and more than 185 countries around the world can currently enjoy its wonderful matches.

Alfredo Bermejo, Director of Digital Strategy at La Liga, explains: "The 150 million followers of social media platforms are proof that our digital strategy is working. We're getting closer to our fans, thanks to the fact that we've been able to develop new ways to create engaging content that works for users who don't use the platform. ”

Younger groups became the core of the focus on growth

In the Chinese market, the Douyin platform is supplemented by music and hot content, and its attention has increased significantly in recent years. The new platform trends have also helped La Liga's followers grow by 10 million in just one year, bringing La Liga from 140 million followers in 2020/21 to the current 150 million.

The importance of young fans in helping La Liga achieve this is obvious, with men aged 18-34 in Facebook and Instagram accounting for 76.6% and 66.28% of their total followers, respectively.
