Madrid, Spain, January 20, 2022 —

La Liga clubs received a €400 million capital injection, completing the first part of the €1,994 million investment in the Boost LaLiga project agreement. The strategic agreement, which is endorsed by 90% of La Liga clubs, links CVC investment firms with La Liga and its clubs for global growth.

Now, the club has been able to implement the development plan previously submitted to La Liga, which will allow them to speed up the modernization process.

According to the plan developed by the club, 70% of the investment will need to be allocated to infrastructure, international development, brand and product development, communication strategy, innovation and technology plans, as well as content development plans for digital platforms and social networks, with the other 15% available for player registration and the remaining 15% going to financial debt.

The next phase of Boost LaLiga

From February 1, a new holding company, LaLiga Group, will be formed, most of La Liga's business will be transferred to the company, and CVC will hold 8% of the company for the next 50 years. At that time, clubs that have joined the CVC agreement will receive another 298 million euros.

The plan is the first step in La Liga's 50-year strategy and will take La Liga and its clubs to a new level globally. CVC is a partner with extensive global experience in the sports industry that can bring long-term capital and expertise to La Liga, helping La Liga and its clubs to develop internationally against a backdrop of great challenges and uncertainties facing the industry.
