MMORPG.com: Guild Wars 2 Dragons Desperate - The trial is in progress

On March 1, local time, foreign game information website MMORPG.com published an article on its homepage, reporting some of the latest preview content of the "Guild Wars 2: Dragon Desperate" expansion film.

Over the past few weeks, the editors have had the privilege of playing Guild Wars 2: Dragon Quest (hereinafter referred to as Dragon Quest) before the release of the new expansion pack. Although I experienced the entire plot and participated in some events, it remains to be seen how the game will react after it goes live, so we are still reviewing and experiencing the game in detail. As far as this story is concerned, I will only discuss the plot details before chapter four. Other than that, I'll just mention some plots that aren't very clear, because everyone should experience the whole game for themselves. Arenanet (Guild Wars 2 Development Company, which we later collectively refer to as Agency A) says that in this expansion pack of Dragons Desperate, the story they have been telling since the release of Guild Wars 2 has ended, which is not an exaggeration, so I will try to avoid spoilers as much as possible.

Bring the whole chapter to a successful conclusion

After seeing the trailer for the Dragon's Desperate Situation, I joked that the maker of Tyria's ship must have been very depressed and refused to let the commander board the ship again, because as long as the commander is in the ship, the ship will often crash. But this time, the crashed ship belongs to the Aether Blade, and we are chasing them. And this time it was our fault that caused the ship to crash. But the whole process of opening up the new expansion pack was completely different from what I expected, and it was very interesting to explore and understand what had happened to them since the last time we saw the Blade of the Ether and what they had done while we were busy with other things. After reading through the whole story, my biggest advice is to take it slow. Almost every map has a lot of extra stories to dig into, which fills in a lot of plot gaps and changes a lot of perceptions of things I thought I already knew.

An excellent aspect of dragons' new storyline is that it has more narration and dialogue than under the previous storyline. Usually in story missions, when there is an optional plot option to talk to a companion, the objects of these dialogues are basically not dubbed. However, in the Dragon's Desperate Expansion Pack, almost all of these dialogues are dubbed, which adds a lot of depth to the progress of the plot. Since these dialogues contain options where the commander can choose to say or not to say, the commander's lines are not dubbed, just show who I am talking to. However, this does not reduce our experience, and I hope that all future voice actors will be able to do so by default.

One of the things that surprised me was that Casmele's voice was so different from before that I initially thought she had a different voice actor. But after I confirmed it with A,I found out that it was the same voice actor; she interpreted the role differently, which made her voice sound very different. At first, the dubbing was a bit harsh, but as the plot progressed, after I spent more time with Casmele, I found that it reflected the tremendous changes she had made over the years. When we first met, she sometimes acted very naïve, but now she is much more mature, and while she is still optimistic, everything that has happened over the years has made her gentler. It was refreshing that we could see, hear, and feel everything she depicted.

Without spoilers, this is the best story ever compiled by Society A. I've enjoyed it all before, but the dragon's desperation made me feel even more amazing. Some plots go exactly according to my guesses, while others are completely contrary to my guesses, but none of them make me feel cheap or outdated. But one thing that surprised me was that there were so many stories, so many plots in the Dragon's Desperate Expansion Pack. I've thought many times, "Well, that's probably the end of the plot now!" "But the plot continues. Our mood is not: "Oh my God, when will this drama end!" It's another pleasant emotion: "Oh, we're doing this right now, we're experiencing this plot." Dragon Desperate is a gift that constantly surprises us.

New Map: Combines the benefits of the Heart of Thorns (Battle of Maguma) and the Blazing Journey

Back in time when the Heart of Thorns was first released, the Map of Maguma is full of dangers. The difficulty of Maguma perfectly matches the geography of Maguma's map, but it is quite a challenge compared to the Terea map, which emphasizes exploration. I really liked the change and enjoyed the challenge, but overall, the reviews on the web weren't very good due to the difficulty. Therefore, when the Blazing Journey appeared, the A Society paid more attention to exploring and traveling the map. It was a good change, but I do miss the feeling of dying violently at any moment in Maguma.

Another difference between the Heart of Thorns and the Blazing Path is the map element. In the Heart of Thorns map, each map has a unique map element (airflow, mushroom, etc.), and when you advance to the dragon position, if you don't have these related specializations, then you can't participate in certain events in the dragon position. On the other hand, there are only more old-fashioned events on the Blazing Journey map, and there is less important specialization in the advancement of map events in general. Again, this is great for the overall exploration and map travel of the map, but it makes the map feel less vivid. I often find myself completely ignoring the events around me, unless one of my collections needs to complete some event on the desert map.

Then there's the upcoming Dragon's Desperate Map, which complements the heart of thorns and the map of the Blazing Journey. The first map of Aokan Province was so beautiful and appealing to me that I wanted to explore every corner and hidden place there. We teamed up on this map and experienced a wide variety of dynamic events. New Kaining City is the perfect combination of city maps and wild maps. The city is full of dynamic events, including a large map event, and there are plenty of places to explore. I have to say that the process of finding a way around new Kaining City is reminiscent of the first exploration of the tangled vine abyss, which is very painful, but not so extreme.

The last two maps lean more towards the Heart of Thorns style, but they also have a lot to explore, and even if you don't make any of the big events on the map, it won't affect you much. I found that I needed to do a random event from the Kovad wilderness to the last map, but it wasn't part of a larger event on the map and I could choose to stop at any time. One thing that overwhelmed me on all the maps was that when an incident occurred, the Allies would use the commander's walkie-talkie to call for help. At first, I didn't realize it, I thought it was part of the main plot, I thought it was an event that my main plot would inevitably trigger at a certain step, and this call for help was very confusing. Although I'm confused about this, it's a good change as it will help players who want to find and participate in the event to better find the location of the event.

The heart of thorns (decisive battle of Maguma) and the importance of the Blazing Journey

Since the pre-trial uses an account provided by Society A, I didn't use my own account, which means I'm not ready for everything. While I did have all my mounts and gliding specializations, I didn't unlock any mount-related skills, and I was shocked to realize how different that was. It's been a long time since I've unlocked the Gliding Follow-up Specialization and the Carnivorous Bird and Bouncing Rabbit specialization, so much so that I forgot what it's like to use a mount without specialization. Those who start with dragon desperation can also get gliding, carnivorous birds, and bouncing rabbits without having to return to the Heart of Thorns and the Blazing Trail to get them.

When it comes to carnivorous mounts, I completely forgot that the carnivorous tail flicking skill doesn't come with a monster gathering effect. Because the Round-Up specialization was one of the first to be unlocked, I defaulted to the fact that this skill comes with the Carnivorous Mount. As a skill that can pull a bunch of monsters together and deal a lot of damage at once, this skill not only helps me kill monsters faster, but also helps me survive longer. In addition to this, this specialization is also very useful when breaking contempt. I also completely forgot that the Canyon Jump specialization increases the distance that carnivorous birds jump. Being able to jump farther distances while exploring would be a huge help and I miss it very much.

For bouncing rabbits, the most important thing is to master the "high jump" specialization. As someone who has only recently gotten to the griffin and the flying scaled dragon, bouncing rabbit is my main way of exploring. This also applies to new players who do not have flying scaled dragons or griffins. During the trial, I have tried to explore a certain area many times, and if I master the "high jump" specialization, I will be able to do this easily. After unlocking the Jade Robot Specialization, I can use the zipper to help myself climb high, but the chain is only available in a specific location, which makes many areas I can only explore with the help of bouncing rabbits.

There is a specialization that is a must in the new map, and that is "Advanced Gliding". I first noticed that in New Kaining City there was a need for a slide that didn't expend energy bars. The city is a maze, and usually the fastest way to get to where you want to go is to glide, especially before the jade robot's chain specialization unlocks. When I glide in this city, I will reset my gliding energy bar with free fall from time to time so as not to run out of energy while gliding. In fact, I died the first time I tried gliding because I forgot that there was a time limit for gliding.

I know that for today's players, what is more appealing to them is to be able to play the game content of dragons as soon as possible, but I strongly recommend that you take a look at this article first and master the few specialties I mentioned here. They will greatly enhance your gaming experience in Guild Wars 2 new expansion packs. I also strongly recommend that you improve your understanding of the plot by playing with things like the old DLC and world dynamics. One of the best things about Guild Wars 2 is that old content is always relevant in some way, so you don't have to worry about you missing certain events. Some events may require someone to help with them later, but you will never miss them.

Go live and final preview

I can't wait to experience the entire game through my own game account, not only to experience the game's plot, but also all the game content brought by the Dragon's Desperate Situation. I wish I had the opportunity to explore everything in more depth and understand how the plot unfolded. In the meantime, what are you going to focus on first in Dragon's Despair? Is it the plot, the new specialty, or something else you want to focus on?
