In an interview with an Indian media outlet on September 6, local time, Tariq Ghaznivar revealed that the Taliban's supreme leader, Haibatula Akhnzada, will be inaugurated as the emir of the "Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan" as the emir.
Akhonzada, an Afghan scholar of Pashtun Sharia law, succeeded Akhtar Mansour, who died in a drone strike by U.S. forces, as the top leader of the Afghan Taliban in 2016, with supreme authority over political, religious and military affairs within the Taliban.
The word "emir" comes from Arabic meaning "the one who leads others" and is still used by the two Arab heads of state, Kuwait and Qatar. (Reporters Li Chao and Gong Ming)
