The statement is as follows:
Recently, new media platforms including good-looking videos, watermelon videos, Bilibili, Xiaohongshu, Hupu, Zhihu, Baijia, NetEase News, Sina Weibo, Douyin, Kuaishou, Today's Headlines, WeChat platform (public number, video number), Tencent Video, Tencent Weishi, Youku Video and other new media platforms have copied, published and disseminated a large number of my speech videos and fragments (mostly 10 years ago) without my consent, and adopted serious distortions of the main theme of my speech, out of context and articles, and even released by new media platforms. Spread and fabricate malicious titles and content such as "Professor Zheng Qiang advocates kicking English out of the college entrance examination" and "Professor Zheng Qiang said: Professor XXX is not as good as me, and I can't sit on an equal footing" and so on. What's more, some authors of new media works have artificially added PPT that is not used in my speeches in some of my video speeches; some Internet people have artificially used some of my views on education to criticize and attack famous domestic universities in an attempt to earn traffic and even provoke disputes and hostility. Here, I solemnly state:
I have never advocated the kicking of English out of the college entrance examination, only that non-English students (candidates) should not spend too much time and energy on English learning; English is a tool for communication and cannot be used as the main criterion for measuring the level of talents; but the basic learning of foreign languages and the mastery of basic skills are necessary for modern knowledge and skilled people. As science and engineering students and scholars, English reading and writing is more needed and important than speaking;
I have never said that any scholar or professor is inferior to me, but in my speech, I encourage young students to learn "asymmetric comparison" and discover more "asymmetric advantages", and take my own comparison with some famous professors and social celebrities as an example to analyze it, thinking that I have some strengths that can be compared with some famous scholars and celebrities. In fact, whenever I give a speech about this, I say the last sentence, "I have a lot of respect for Professor XXX, and he has 20 specialties that I can't compare." It is a pity that such an expression was deleted by the editor with the means of pinching the head and tail;
I have always been full of respect for the leading universities in China, and believe that in recent decades, these universities have made outstanding contributions to the construction and development of the country, and it is the right life choice for young students to aspire to these universities. The point I want to express is that it is fortunate to be able to pass the examination (reading) to go to a top-notch university; if you can't pass the examination (reading), you can also become a talent as long as you work hard; studying abroad is an inevitable way for China to go to the world, understand the world, and build self-confidence, and is the inevitable result of reform and opening up. Returning to China after completing school is the best way to serve the country; staying abroad can also be patriotic. To become teachers and scholars of high-level universities in the new era and to study in first-class high-level universities abroad is beneficial to enriching life experience and improving academic standards.
I am deeply indignant that the recent online platform has continued to illegally transcribe, copy my own speech videos and clips without authorization, and even maliciously fabricate and tamper with them, and have repeatedly complained to the new media platforms involved, and I am deeply indignant that the above illegal acts cannot be eliminated and stopped; I deeply regret that the new media platforms involved cannot effectively stop them according to law!
In order to prevent misunderstanding by the public and related media, in order to correct the audio-visual, I declare the following:
1. As of the date of this statement, I request that there be no video recording, no audio recording, and no dissemination when I am invited to give a lecture (speech). The relevant video, audio and other content involving me in the new media platform are illegally filmed and recorded against my will.
2. I have never opened a personal account on any new media platform, nor have I ever disseminated my speech video or audio on any new media platform, nor have I ever authorized any new media platform or other users to publish, disseminate or edit my speech video or audio.
3. I enjoy complete copyright and other related rights in accordance with the law for my speeches and works delivered at different times and on different occasions. Without my written authorization, no enterprise or individual may use the works for which I enjoy copyright in any way, including but not limited to making, reproducing, publishing, disseminating, modifying my speeches and other works, and shall not infringe in any way the copyright and other related rights I enjoy in my speech works.
4. Without the written authorization of the person, no enterprise or individual shall use the portrait of himself without authorization.
5. I reserve the right to pursue legal liability for illegal acts such as making, reproducing, publishing, disseminating, and modifying the video and audio of my speech without my authorization, or even impersonating myself to open a false account on various new media platforms, as well as impersonating myself to conduct commercial sales.
