Last night, young dancer Xie Xin's new work "Quietly Rising Up" premiered at the Shanghai International Dance Center Theater. This is a work about the intersection of memory and time, which is Xie Xin's looking back, examining, combing and thinking in the trek of his life. "It's new, it's even more true, it's the creation that has honed it the most in the years. Painfully and sincerely healing himself, feeling himself and seeing everyone. Xie Xin said: This work does not start from an action logic or body style, but hopes to use the body to "speak" and let the information flow in each dance passage.
The contemporary dance "QuietLy Picking Up" was commissioned by the Shanghai International Dance Center Theatre and produced and performed by xie xin dance theatre.
In "Dance Storm 2", Xie Xin used the dance language to interpret time "Flow Trace", which hit the hearts of many audiences; in "QuietLy Rising", "Time" provided the creator with a lot of dramatic and logical structural frameworks. According to the main creative team, the name of the work is separated by the English word "TIME" and many concepts are made - Temperature (temperature of time), Imagination (imaginary space), Memory (memory), energy (energy).
"The work contains some of the feelings that time has brought to me in more than 30 years of life." Xie Xin said that the creative process of "Quietly Recovering" began in 2020, and after countless materials and paragraphs, it finally left the part that really moved her. "At a certain age, you will find that the memory has some heaviness. There are parts that you once felt were self-consistent that always bounce back when you're vulnerable. You will find that the original burns, the body has never forgotten. ”
From the warm-up performance, the stage seems to be divided into an independent time and space. In Xie Xin's memory box, time is cut and stuck, regressed and stopped in the flow of time. The audience follows Xie Xin into her space of consciousness— chairs, tables and beds hanging in the dark, and the most lifelike props appear on the stage in the most incredible form. During the more than an hour of performance time, the wonderful time machine was turned on on the stage, and the time gyroscope stopped and quietly picked up.
Previously, Xie Xin's program for Wiesbaden in Germany was called "Special Moments", and then the program for foreign groups was called "Timeless". Xie Xin admits that time may become an obsession with artistic creation. "Sometimes, an artist will persist in creating on a word, presenting the feeling of life every year and stage of life — in this moment, what I feel, what I want to leave behind. I'm not sculpting time, I'm not saying the word 'time,' but I'm talking about people in time. ”
Time is like a never-ending gyroscope from which artists draw endless inspiration.
"Quietly Rising" seems to have the meaning of "zeroing, precipitation, and starting again", where does the inspiration for the new work come from? "At the age of 36, I am in the middle of my life, and now I have a small family, have my own children, and carry a dance troupe job." Xie Xin asked his heart if he remembered the first time he saw his mother. "I see my mother's silver hair today, I see the emotional ups and downs of her half life; I see the child from a small white dot to the ground, from not knowing the world to being pulled by the family and the environment to grow every day - I seem to see the cycle of life." 」
"Initially, you didn't know that memories would be so deep until you were swept into the gyroscope of time and discovered that the cycle of cycles began at that time." Xie Xin admitted: "I want to use this work to reconcile with some of my past. "On the night of the premiere, she invited her mother to the theater to experience this journey together." What I especially hope is that a lot of things in memory can let it pass. ”
