Did the world-famous prophet Nostradamus predict the Russo-Ukrainian War as early as 1555? A lot has happened in the world in recent years, such as the COVID-19 pandemic that emerged in 2020. Even more surprising is the discovery that the French astrologer and prophet Nostradamus predicted a war in Europe in 2022 in his 1555 Book of Hundred Poems. So did this war predict the current Russo-Ukrainian war?
Let's first take a look at the legendary life of Nostradamus
Born in 1503, Nostradamus was a French astrologer and physician whose prophecies earned him fame and a loyal follower. In the centuries after his death, it is believed that he accurately predicted the key historical events from the French Revolution to the French Revolution. His book The Hundred Poems was published in 1555 and has earned him worldwide fame ever since. According to Nostradamus, the world will end in 3797.
Little is known about his childhood, but there is evidence that he was very intelligent because he soon went to school. Early in his life, his maternal grandfather Jean de St. Remy saw great wisdom and potential in his grandson. During this time, the young Nostradame learned the basics of Latin, Greek, Hebrew and mathematics. It is believed that his grandfather also introduced him to the ancient rituals of the Jewish tradition and the celestial science of astrology, exposing Nostradamus to the concepts of astrology and their relationship to human destiny for the first time.
Nostradamus
At the age of 14, Nostradain entered the University of Avignon to study medicine. However, due to the outbreak of the plague, he was forced to leave after only a year. According to Nostradamus's own description, he traveled the countryside during this time, studying herbs and working as a pharmacist. In 1522 he entered the University of Montpellier to complete his doctorate in medicine. He sometimes disputed the teachings of Catholic priests because they refuted his concept of astrology. It was later reported that university officials discovered his previous experience as a pharmacist and found reasons to fire him. However, most reports say he was not expelled and licensed to practice medicine in 1525. At this time, he Latinized his name— a habit of many medieval scholars — from Nostradame to Nostradamus.
Over the next few years, Nostradamus traveled extensively throughout France and Italy, treating the victims of the plague. Over time, Nostradamus found himself a local celebrity as a result of his treatment and received financial support from many citizens of Provence. By 1554, Nostradamus's vision had become an integral part of his work in the Annals, and he decided to devote all his energies to the tome he named the Centuries. He plans to write 10 volumes, which will contain 100 predictions for the coming 2000 years. In 1555 he published Les Prophesies, a collection of his main long-term predictions.
The prophecy of Nostradamus
With the publication of the book, Nostradamus's prophecy sparked some controversy, with some saying he was fake or crazy. However, more people believe that these prophecies are spiritually inspired. He was famous and sought after by many European elites. Catherine de' Medici, wife of King Henry II of France, was one of Nostradamus's most admired people. After reading his 1555 almanac, which hinted at the nameless threat to her family, she summoned Nostradamus to Paris to explain and formulate constellations for her children. A few years later, she appointed Nostradamus as an advisor and general physician to King Henry's court. In 1556, Nostradamus, while holding this position, also explained another prophecy of the Centuries I, presumably referring to King Henry. The prophecy tells that a "young lion" will defeat an older lion on the battlefield. A young lion would pierce the eyes of an older lion, and he would die in pain. Nostradamus also warned the king that he should avoid ceremonial competitions. Three years later, when King Henry was 41 years old, the spear of the young rival pierced the king's mask and entered his head, after which the king died in agony.
Most of nostradamus's life sentences are related to disasters such as earthquakes, wars, floods, invasions, droughts, and plagues. Followers of Nostradamus believe he predicted many events in world history, including the French Revolution, the development of the atomic bomb, the Kennedy assassination, and the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center.

So did Nostradamus really predict the Russo-Ukrainian War in 2022? What's going on
According to the Sky History article, the threat from the east is a recurring theme in Nostradamus's prediction, and the timing of this prediction is speculated to be in the spring of 2022:

There are relevant explanations that the blue and white heads hint at the flags of the two countries, so that it can be explained that this sentence predicts the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. But like all of Nostradamus's prophecies, this prophecy is ambiguous. This prophecy does not directly mention Russia and Ukraine at all, and can only rely on some speculation and association to get closer. Even from this passage, I did not see a reference to the east. I don't know why anyone would say that this predicts a threat from the east.
Although Russia is on the eastern side of Ukraine, this understanding is indeed far-fetched. This is also a common feature of many prophecies. That is, the ambiguity of prophecy, such a prophecy can be interpreted in many ways. Even so, Nostradamus had many inaccurate prophecies, such as The End of the World in 1999 in the Collection of Hundred Poems, but the reality is that there is no end of the world at all. This makes it impossible for people who believe Nostradamus's prophecies to justify themselves, even if they are far-fetched.
