It is understood that the law enforcement personnel of the station received reports from the masses in the jurisdiction: There are two fishing boats operating on trawls, often choosing to use the "net of absolute households" at midnight in the bottom trawling forbidden area line in the sea near Wanning to Lingshui in Hainan, taking advantage of the night to carry out fishing, which seriously undermines the local fishery production order and marine fishery resources. After receiving the clue, the Lingshui workstation quickly carried out a platoon visit near the Xincun Port and other docks, and successively locked two suspected vessels with Lingao nationality. At about 17:00 on the afternoon of February 19, when the suspect vessel was carrying out illegal operations in the waters near Lingshui, the station immediately organized law enforcement forces to board and inspect it.
After investigation, the sea area where the two fishing vessels involved in the operation were located in the line of the bottom trawling ban area, and after measurement by the coast guard law enforcement officers, the net gear used in their operation was smaller than the minimum mesh size stipulated by the state, and their behavior was suspected of using the prohibited fishing gear in the prohibited area to illegally catch aquatic products. Coast Guard personnel seized 9 people involved in the case, 2 fishing boats suspected of operating in violation of the law, and seized more than 1,000 kilograms of fish.
The Sanya Coast Guard Bureau of Hainan reminds the majority of fishermen that fishing in prohibited fishing areas, during fishing ban periods, or using prohibited tools and methods to catch aquatic products, if the circumstances are serious, constitute the crime of illegal fishing for aquatic products, and can be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention, control or fines.
