The Balcon studio was moved to a historic building at 28 Valovaya Street in the heart of Moscow, with an area of 400 square meters that will accommodate 100 people. Completely open space planning and a minimalist and unique color scheme make this a truly creative workplace. This historic building was first the Sytin Printing House, which in the 1950s became the first printing house named after A.A. Zhdanov. Looking at the historical photographs of that year, the cast iron columns that divide the interior spaces have not changed, a discovery of great significance for the designers, through the building's own elements and the history of the building. How to create a dream office – this is an important challenge for designers at BALCON Studios."We summed up all the aspirations we had when working in the previous office, namely: a spacious meeting room, a spacious separate space with materials for the equipment department, a place to relax, and a large kitchen/dining room!" —Anastasia Bondarenko, founder of BALCON.
In fact, these cast iron columns, which were built in those years, became the only structure in the design that restricted the designers from showing their muscles. Therefore, the design team added elements of arches. Some people will think that this is the "Memphis" style, and others will think that this is the classical style. Actually, that's right. The large meeting room features a tinted glass partition wall and the addition of a circular porthole to echo and unify with the overall environment.
A large open workspace where people from different departments work. The executive and general manager have their own separate rooms. The whole space is dominated by a light light gray, which has the advantage that the whole environment can easily change the soft decoration configuration according to the changes of the four seasons or mood, creating a different atmosphere.
The most distinctive visual effect of the entire space is the design of the arched ceiling with bright scarlet spray. It was a color that the whole team loved very much, and now it has become an iconic color at BALCON Studios. The clever use of color for points, lines, and surfaces, even the simplest color schemes can create an impressive artistic space effect.
