Following New York (2014) and Shanghai (2017), Bayern Munich FC will open a third overseas office in Bangkok. Given that Bangkok is one of the most important hubs in Southeast Asia, the German football record champion plans to make it the next overseas key market after the United States and China. Bayern intends to use its direct links with local fans to develop and expand existing partnerships and promote the development of youth football.

Bayern currently has 39 official fan clubs in Southeast Asia. Across the region, the German football record champions have so far organised three Bayern Youth Cups (Thailand has won twice), the Bayern World Team, allianz Youth Football Camps, youth training courses for all ages, as well as many partner and prestigious events. In the summer of 2017, the Audi Summer Tour went smoothly in Singapore, and the Bayern first team also participated in the friendly match. Bayern Munich had also previously played a friendly against the Thai national team in 2000.
