On February 11, 2022, Professor Hu Fupin of the Institute of Antibiotics of Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University compiled the latest "CHINET China Bacterial Resistance Monitoring Results (January-December 2021)" on the CHINET China Bacterial Resistance Monitoring Network.

In 2021, gram-negative bacteria accounted for 71.4% and gram-positive bacteria accounted for 28.6%.

Distribution of 301917 strains of clinical isolates in various specimens: respiratory specimens 37.8%, urine specimens 20.7%, blood specimens 14.4%, wound pus 6.6%, other sterile body fluids 5.5%, cerebrospinal fluid 1.0%, reproductive tract secretions 1.0%, fecal specimens 1.2%, other 11.7%.

Top 5 isolates: Escherichia coli 18.96%, Klebsiella pneumoniae 14.12%, Staphylococcus aureus 8.93%, Pseudomonas aeruginosa 7.96%, Acinetobacter baumannii 7.28%.

Among methicillin-resistant staphylococcus: MRSA accounted for 30%, MRSE accounted for 80.7%, and other MRCNS accounted for 77.7%. In MRSA and MSSA, no resistant strains of vancomycin, norepamycin, linezolid, and ticoplanin were found. In MRSE and MSSE, no strains resistant to vancomycin, norgemocomycin, and tigecycline were found. In MRCNS, no strains resistant to vancomycin and tigecycline were found.

Klebsiella pneumoniae has a resistance rate of 23.1% to imipenem and 24.4% to meropenem. 49150 strains of Klebsiella had the lowest resistance rates to colistin sulfate of only 2.3%, tigecycline 3.9%, and ceftazidine avibatam 7.4%. The resistance rate of 9879 strains of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae to colistin sulfate was as low as 5.3%, tigecycline 7.4%, and ceftazidine avibatam 11.1%.

The resistance rate of Enterobacter bacteria to imipenem was 9.4% and that of Meropenem was 9.6%. The resistance rate of 10889 strains of Enterobacterium bacteria to colistin sulfate was only 1.9%, and tigecycline was 2.8%.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa has a resistance rate of 23% to imipenem and 18.9% to Meropenem. The resistance rate of 24035 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to colistin sulfate was only 2%, compared with 5.5% of ceftazidime avibatam. The resistance rate of 5572 carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa to colistin sulfate was only 4.4%, compared with ceftazidime avibatam 13.9%.

The resistance rate of Acinetobacter baumannii to imipenem was 71.5% and that of Meropenem was 72.3%. The resistance rate of 26084 strains of Acinetobacter spp. to colistin sulfate was only 1.6%, and tigecycline was 2.5%. The resistance rate of 15166 carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii to colistin sulfate was only 0.9%, and tigecycline was 3.6%.

The results of 2021 CHINET China bacterial drug resistance monitoring show that colistin sulfate is highly sensitive to carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumannii!
