On February 18th, the Peking Opera "Yangmen Female General" rehearsal and construction group meeting will be held in Nanjing, and the Peking Opera House of Jiangsu Performing Arts Group will gather new and old forces to let the classic repertoire shine again.

It is reported that the Peking Opera "Yangmen Female General" was created in 1959 and premiered by the China Peking Opera House, which was once reserved as the Group Peking Opera House and was deeply loved by the audience. The play depicts the period of Emperor Renzong of Song, when Wang Wen of Western Xia invaded Sanguan and Marshal Yang Zongbao of the Song Army sacrificed his life for the country. Emperor Renzong of Song personally went to Yang Mansion to mourn, and She Taijun and others rebuked the lord and sent Wang Hui to go out on a campaign and lead his entire family to the front line, defeating Wang Wen in a battle. Wang Wen also used a trick to lure Yang Wenguang into ambush. She Taijun made a plan and ordered Mu Guiying's mother and son to enter the Gourd Valley, and Zong Bao Mafu and the old horses he was riding on found a plank, attacked the enemy army, and returned triumphantly. The whole play performs a heroic ode to the mighty mountains and rivers.
This rehearsal has been selected as a special fund project for the development of provincial publicity and culture, and it is also a key re-arrangement of the Group's Beijing Opera House in 2022. The play invited national first-class actor Zhang Siquan as the rehearsal director, Huang Xiaoping, Sun Yuanchen, Jiang Yanling, Fan Yicheng, Li Yijie, Li Weiqun, Yang Yan as the instructor, and The plum blossom award winner Li Yijie and the outstanding young actor Dong Jing played Mu Guiying.

He asked all the crew members to summon up their spirits, overcome difficulties, and while inheriting the repertoire, learn and inherit the professionalism and persistent pursuit of the artists of the older generation, feel the lofty spiritual realm of the characters in the play, and make unremitting efforts to profoundly convey patriotic feelings and carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture.
At present, the drama has entered the rehearsal stage, and it is planned to ring out before the end of March and premiere around May to June.
