Cui Zige: This song is my masterpiece in the field of Chinese style music, and it is also the first time that I have come into contact with OST from the perspective of a singer. I used to be a songwriter, and I often take on some TV drama soundtracks and theme songs. During the period, I was recognized by some directors, and I felt that I sang so well, why not let me sing? In fact, "Red Face Old" was originally called "Endure Parting", which was issued in my national style album "Little Beauty" in 2013, and when the director heard my song when filming "Langya List" in 2015, he felt that it was very suitable for the emotional line of the heroes and heroines in "Langya List".

When I recorded "Red Face Old", I had some pictures in my mind: "Endure parting, can't bear to leave but want to leave", I think it is a person I love, I am about to go to the battlefield, embattled, may not necessarily come back alive. When "Langya List" aired, I was shocked! About in episode 14, when Liu Tao and Hu Ge met, they hugged and cried for three or five minutes, and they kept playing this song. I felt shocked and moved, really appropriate, the picture in my head was really presented on TV, completely fitted, very wonderful.

Nandu: Recently, you sang the ending song of "Qingping Le" "Double Flying Swallow", and many people were also abused by you.

Cui Zige: The song "Double Flying Swallow" actually stands in the perspective of the queen to show a kind of great love. As an empress, she was trapped in this isolated city with the emperor, and she could not go out to be a pair of free double flying swallows. Her love must be in a big picture, not the selfish love of the man who loves himself, he may still love many people, he may give up small love for the sake of the country. The queen's love is a very special kind of love, and I sing "Double Flying Swallow" to express a noble love.

Nandu: Singing these film and television theme songs, in fact, you did a lot of homework?

Cui Zige: Yes, it must. Because doing OST is quite different from our singer's usual album. To do OST, you must first understand what the play is about, where your song is pasted, and where you have to sing it with different emotions when it is pasted in different places. For example, I sang the episode of the TV series "That Year the Flowers Bloomed and the Moon Was Round", and I had a version of "You Said" with Zhou Pin, and Yu Ke only had another version. The same song is inserted in different places, and you have to sing it with different emotions. Yu Kewei's version of "You Once Said" is as light as water, it talks about the emotions of Sun Li's life; the version of Me and Zhou Pin, just pasted on Sun Li and Chen Xiao, experienced so many setbacks, everyone thought that they would eventually walk together, and as a result, they separated, back to back, and our song came out. When we sing, we need very tangled emotions, and the two people are very reluctant and regretful, not Yu Kewei's version of the feeling of being plain as water.

Nandu: Do you accept the label "OST Queen"? You once said that OST is always a side dish for film and television dramas. Now what do you think?

Cui Zige: This is also what I have been struggling with in my heart. I did OST for about four or five years, singing an average of twenty or thirty film and TELEVISION dramas a year. Indeed, a TV series is on fire, everyone pays attention to the male and female one or the plot, the drama is the main dish, and the music is just a side dish. Later, I felt that every kind of music has its way of presenting, in the past, when we only listened to tape or CD, there was no picture; now we have so many platforms such as vibrato and kuaishou, music cannot exist independently, and it needs to cooperate with the picture, so that everyone has more impact points and memory points visually and sensoryly. Although many people think that OST is a side dish, I will still try to make it well, so that everyone feels that there is no sense of violation, and there is a sense of substitution.

Nandu: Will you continue to follow the path of OST singers?

Cui Zige: Recently I figured it out, an epidemic at home for four months, sleeping, dreaming, and then thinking: Am I an OST singer? Later I thought it wasn't. OST can have, but I also have to have my own musical attitude. Some dramas come to me to sing OST, and I will go with the flow, but I will not only do this part forever.

Nandu: What do you think of your voice characteristics? Will you slowly find the style that suits you?

Cui Zige: Before, I didn't think I had any characteristics, because behind the scenes, I often sang demos, and asked for whatever I wanted, for example, this OST is an urban drama, which requires me to sing very foreign, that is a Republic of China drama, let me sing a little classical, I can come. Later, it was found that this was also my drawback, as a singer, there was no obvious timbre characteristic or human setting. Doing OST for five years, helped me find this part of me suitable for Chinese style, that is, with some relatively large air sounds and more ethereal feelings, let the vocals take you through the past and make you more graphic. This part allowed me to improve and learn a lot, and I found my own characteristics. Next, if I don't sing ancient songs but sing modern songs, I will study how to sing with my own label, and my research has almost a little fruit, which will be presented to you this year. This year I will release two albums, not antique or OST, and will express my musical attitude more.

Before taking the stage to record, Ding Dang talked to us, telling her love views and feelings in each love song, and also sharing her thoughts and plans after the epidemic.

Nandu: Why did you choose to sing the song "I Love Him"?

Ding Dang: The theme of this recording is related to love, and I think love is the kind of temperature between each other. The song "I Love Him" represents the temperature above love. This song is a masterpiece of fame for me, and I decided to reinterpret my definition of love on this stage. Just like the lyrics say: love is to be vigorous, love is to dare to be bold.

Nandu: The first instinct was to choose this one?

DINGDANG: Hmm. Because after the epidemic, if there is an audience on the scene, if everyone sings with me, the feeling will be more full. Every time this song is sung live, the whole audience is in a chorus.

Nandu: "Flowing Song" is a tribute to classic songs, do you have a particular favorite one?

Ding Dang: We also have Teacher Chen Ming in the same period of this issue. "I think everything you have is just to find it", Chen Mingjie has a lot of songs, "For You" and "Happy Hometown" accompanied me to grow up, and I was very impressed, at that time, the streets and alleys were broadcasting these songs every day, the radio was broadcasting, the TV was also broadcasting, we have been listening to songs, can not sing and become able to sing.

Nandu: You also sang a lot of popular TV series theme songs. Have these songs changed your musical career a lot?

Ding Dang: I think it's very lucky. I remember when I was a child, Aunt Qiong Yao's play was very popular, and as soon as the play was broadcast, I watched the play for about two or three days, and those songs would be sung. I didn't expect to have the opportunity to sing these songs in my music career. Thank you to many directors and producers for giving me the opportunity to interpret their theme songs or interludes, which is a coincidence. I am actually a more emotional person, sometimes like everyone else, I will cry together when I see some dramas, and at that time I sang the theme songs of many idol dramas. The first time I sang the theme song "Palm of the Palm" of the costume drama "Lanling King", this experience was also quite special for me. As long as there are some invitations to play, or everyone expects Ding Dang to sing, I will be very eager to sing, because different plays, singing methods will be different, give me the opportunity to challenge myself.

Nandu: What characteristics does the director like in your voice and choose you to sing the theme song?

Ding Dang: Sometimes it depends on whether there is a fate, sometimes it depends on the demand for the work, or whether the characteristics of my voice have a tacit understanding with this song. I myself am more open-minded, more antique "Palm" and more modern "I Love Him", you can try it. "Lanling King" and "Next Stop, Happiness" are both plays of Yu Shanjie, and I asked her, how did she think of asking me to sing "Palm of the Hand"? She said that after listening to my singing of "I Love Him", she felt that there was a storytelling mood in my voice, and there was a little bit of metal, which was wonderful, and sometimes the song would conflict with the starting point, but sometimes they would merge together. When she directed "Lanling King", she immediately thought of my voice.

When filming "Next Stop, Happiness", my third album "Night Cat" had just been recorded, and Yushan Sister just came to our company for a meeting, and the company asked her to listen to my new album. She heard the last song on the album, "I Love Him," and immediately said: This song is for me, and the lyrics and melody match some of the scenes in her play. We often say that every song has its destiny, and "I Love Him" is wonderful.

Nandu: What are the new plans after the pandemic? Release a new album or sing some more OST?

Ding Dang: Last year, I released an album "Love to Death", which is very different from the previous Ding Dang in terms of style and tone. Recently I released a single "Angel", and I will sing a few words live. The inspiration for the creation of this song came from the fact that I saw a lot of touching videos during the epidemic, and the most impressive thing was that there was a nurse, her husband and children came to deliver food for her, and they looked at their wives and mothers from a distance and squatted there to eat. At that moment I imagined that if I were the husband of this nurse, what would be my inner feelings? The wife is so great, she can fight on the front line to dedicate herself, to take care of all the people in need; I switched to another angle, if I am a nurse, I eat the meals sent by my family, when a person is going to complete his mission, the family's words, a move, make me feel very warm.

I used to be less of a spoiler, but now I seem to have learned. I would have a goodbye kiss with my mom before I went out; I would hold hands with my mom when I was walking on the road; when my mom was cooking, I would put a small stool, and I would sit on the stool and watch her cook... These are all increasing emotions between me and my family. I used to feel like I was full of work every day, and I came home with my phone and living in my own world.
