Live in the moment and forget the utilitarian side

The past can be forgotten, but it cannot be altered. The future of the past is the present, and it is also impossible to change.

——Han Shaogong, "The Revision Process"

There is a utilitarian side to living in the moment, and this quote says exactly that.

The past has passed, and it is useless to think about it; the future has not yet come, but it occupies the time of the present. From a rational point of view, only the present moment is a moment that we can grasp ourselves.

Following this line of thought, what we think and do at the moment seems to naturally determine the future, so the only way to be good for the future is to do a good job.

All this thinking is based on time, and the utilitarian way of thinking is most in line with people's tastes.

After all, no one wants to waste their time and lives.

Live in the moment and forget the utilitarian side

What if time doesn't exist? This hypothesis is a physical argument, and I would like to say that for us, time is something constructed in the mind, a product of intuition.

If the concept of time is not valid, then a person's past, present, and future do not correspond to reality, and they all become human beings in their thoughts and feelings.

Leaving aside the utilitarian side, what does it mean to "live in the moment"?

The answer I can think of is: be preoccupied with the feelings of the moment. This requires us to do one thing: deliberately avoid memories of the past, visions of the future.

Many books mention the need to "live in the moment," but apart from the utilitarian one, the answer left is: happiness.

Live in the moment and forget the utilitarian side

Can living in the moment bring happiness?

If this is true, it means that "living in the present" is not an act, but a state; it is not because of deliberate avoidance of the past and the future that happiness is attained.

Maybe it's because I've experienced happiness that I say "live in the moment."

There are some things that cannot be conveyed in words, but since it is happiness, we are all happy to believe it. I hope that one day, I can feel the happiness of the moment without distractions.
