Many people know about the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, but they do not know that our great motherland has also crossed the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid.

Actually, so am I.

The reason why I can know this history is because of my girlfriend's father, a veteran who once went to the Vietnamese battlefield to resist the United States and aid Vietnam.

After 13 months of fighting, he wrote down 400 "field diaries" one a day.

Because of his growing old age, he took out this work at the bottom of the pressure box and solemnly handed it to his little daughter, hoping that she would keep it properly and pass it on from generation to generation.

And the original sealed history, this is the light of day.

He joined the army shortly after his wedding in 1965, when he served as an anti-aircraft gunner in Unit 6307. In 1968, he joined the anti-aircraft artillery regiment formed by four anti-aircraft artillery battalions and rushed to the Vietnamese battlefield.

In this battle, as the second gunner of the anti-aircraft gun, he was responsible for starting and firing, but he did not want to be struck off the index finger of his right hand in the fierce war. In order not to affect the battle, he pressed his index finger up and continued to fire.

But since then, his right hand has fallen into a lifelong disability.

However, he is disabled.

Even so, after he was demobilized and returned to the field, he did not bother the government and society, built a dam in the field, and raised his five children.

Because of my relationship with his youngest daughter, I had the privilege of reading his war diary.

When I saw "January 9th, 1968, it was a day I will never forget!" Shouldering the heavy trust of the people of the motherland and the people of the world, we stepped on the "Friendship Bridge" at 5:40 p.m. today, and stepped on the territory of Vietnam to fulfill our obligations of internationalism..." During such a period, my soul was really purified and sublimated.

This is the young man of that time! There is no trace of children's affection, no trace of greed for life and fear of death, and some are carrying the great feelings of the country and the world.

When he first entered the battlefield, he cheered for every victory, and also hated aggression and hated the enemy for the sacrifice of his comrades-in-arms.

"The day after we stepped into Vietnam, we were greeted by two reconnaissance enemy planes. Immediately head-on blows, knocking out a fight, injuring a fight, which greatly boosted our morale. ”

The first battle was won, and the anti-aircraft artillery regiment cheered. However, the U.S. military's plan of retaliation followed. The next day, a bombing group of 48 U.S. aircraft appeared over our camp and carried out a retaliatory bombing. In this bombardment, our regiment suffered heavy losses, with one company suffering more than half of its casualties. ”

"Two of my comrades-in-arms, one named Bu Wanyi and the other named You Shengyu, were sacrificed in front of me. They were all about the same age as me, enlisted in the same year, lived together, and joked together. But seeing them die, I knew for the first time what life and death were. ”

Closing this diary, but also with a period of smoke-filled history, today he is just an ordinary old man, living peacefully in his hometown, the small mountain village called Ma Geng, leisurely enjoying his old age.

Every day after lunch, he would go early to play cards with his old friends to play the landlord, because he would have no place and could only watch others play.

His name is Cheng Ronghui, a native of Jurong, Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province.
