Today, the AFC officially announced the venues of the groups in the group stage of the 2022 AFC Champions League.
Four teams from the Chinese Super League, Guangzhou need to travel to Malaysia for the new season of the AFC Champions League. Shandong Taishan and Shanghai Seaport will travel to Thailand, while Changchun Yatai, who needs to qualify, will go to Vietnam to compete after successfully qualifying.
Guangzhou team in Group I:
Group I: Kawasaki Striker (Japan), Guangzhou FC (China), Johor Bahru (Malaysia), Ulsan Hyundai (Korea) / Thai Port (Thailand)
It is reported that in the 2022 AFC Champions League, a total of 40 participating teams in East and West Asia will be divided into 10 groups, and 5 groups in East Asia and West Asia. The 5 groups in each division will finish first, plus the 3 best-achieving groups will qualify for the quarter-finals of the Eastern and Western Asia regions.
In East Asia, the group stage is based on a conference format, and all matches will be played intensively from April 15 to May 1.
From the perspective of the schedule, if the Chinese Super League starts in mid-to-late April, it is likely to collide with the AFC Champions League schedule. However, at present, the opening time of the Chinese Super League is still undecided, and everything is still variable.
The knockout rounds are also held intensively, with the first round of knockouts playing on August 18 and 19, the quarterfinals playing on August 22, and the semi-finals playing on August 25.
Due to the World Cup event at the end of the year, the AFC Champions League event for the 2022 season will be held on New Year's Eve.
