Genting Ski Park grounds, staff are clearing the snow field.
On the afternoon of February 13, Genting Ski Park is still full of snow, And Shu Wen, deputy director of the logistics department of the Genting Stadium Group, was interviewed by reporters, explaining the most important reason for the rescheduling of the freestyle ski slope obstacle course in the morning, he said that although the low temperature of the venue and snow will have a certain impact on the competition, the main reason for postponing the competition is that the heavy snow affects the line of sight and will be dangerous for athletes.
Shu Wen said: "The slope obstacle course is relatively very high, and there is such a lot of snow at high altitude, the visibility of the course can be said to be quite low. The slope athletes need to make difficult actions such as taking off and jumping, and if the visibility is too low because of heavy snow, it will be very dangerous to see the markers. ”
Despite heavy snowfall, ice and snow removal work at Genting Ski Park has been in full swing. It has been said that heavy snow will cause the slope obstacle course to be too soft and affect the athletes to land, Shu Wen said: "This is indeed a reason. However, Genting has a very large ice shoveling and snow removal team, and it is fully capable of sweeping in time in the face of the current snow volume. We already knew through the weather warning that there would be heavy snow today, so the night before we had arranged the snow removal team and deployed all the snow removal equipment. ”
Shu Wen said that despite the snow, the freestyle ski women's aerial skills event at night is expected to go as planned. Shu Wen said: "The aerial skills program is different from the slope obstacle course. The main reason for the postponement of the morning slope obstacle program is because heavy snow affects the line of sight, but the aerial skills competition is at night, and there are very bright lighting equipment to ensure it. Secondly, the aerial skill track is relatively low in altitude, and the impact of heavy snow on the line of sight is relatively small. Third, there is a windbreak next to the aerial skill track, which is to reduce the impact of extreme weather on the race. ”
However, in the evening, the wind and snow at Genting Ski Park are getting bigger and bigger, and the wind hurts when the snow blows on people's faces. In the end, the IOC decided to postpone the competition, and the time was adjusted to start the women's aerial skills qualification tournament at 3 pm on the 14th, and the final competition began at 7 pm.
