On December 11, 2021, the drama "Broken Gold", written by writer Zou Jingzhi and starring Zhang Guoguo, Wang Gang and Zhang Tielin, will land at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Guangzhou to present a well-known Beijing-style drama for the citizens of Guangzhou.
As the screenwriter of this play, the famous writer Zou Jingzhi spent ten years of painstaking efforts for the script of "Broken Gold" and changed the draft 13 times, and finally shaped the faces of the big and small characters in the Dong'an Market in the history of the rapid changes from the late Qing Dynasty to the beginning of the People's Republic of China after the founding of New China, and at the same time reflected the changes in the Beijing Dong'an Market from establishment to rise and fall.
The play focuses on the image of the three brothers with very different personalities, telling their different life choices in the face of fate, which is full of watchability.
Fu Xiaolian, played by Zhang Guoguo, is the most stoic character in the play, a typical oriental humble gentleman, who experienced great ups and downs when he was a teenager, in the chaotic world, only seeking stability and longevity. He braced his brotherhood with friendship, but in the face of his beloved woman, his sensitive mind and strict inner order made him suffer.
Wei Qingshan, played by Wang Gang, has always loved to use unsightly means to do business, although he has become the most proud president of the Chamber of Commerce in the Dong'an Market, but the people he has hurt and the moral pressure he has carried have made him empty-handed and lonely in his twilight years.
Guibao, played by Zhang Tielin, is a spontaneous and arrogant character, he never makes long-term considerations for himself and the people around him, and only cares about realizing his own unreachable "thoughts". True temperament people often make people love and hate, and Guibao can be called a character who makes people laugh and cry.
Since its premiere in 2017, the drama has been well received, receiving a high score of 8.4 points from Douban. Thanks to Zou Jingzhi's long-term research on the ancient books of history and social life, the details of history in the play abound: the origin of the Dong'an market, various small objects in the old era, and the contract rules in the early years of the Republic of China... It can be called a picture of oriental life in the old times.
