It is reported that the Cross-Strait Folk Culture Festival was founded in 2008 and developed from the "Mindu Folk Culture Festival" with the aim of presenting a grand cross-strait folk customs event, further enhancing the sense of national identity on both sides of the strait, and creating a strong atmosphere of "Fu" cultural festivals. The festival will bring 1 large-scale folk parade, 5 folk performances, 8 street culture performances, 20 folk market stalls, and open up food streets on both sides of the strait and 13 folk custom exhibition halls. At the event site, 35 outstanding street art performance teams in Fuzhou were also invited to display in the form of street art exhibitions, street culture display areas, and folk markets, providing the audience with a different way of experiencing and appreciating folk culture.

In addition, in order to reflect the inheritance and exchange of folk culture between the two sides of the Strait, the Cross-Strait Folk Culture Festival set up a sub-venue in Matsu, Taiwan, and displayed the characteristic folk programs of Matsu such as "Swinging Eyes", "White Horse Venerable" and "Marshal Tian Du" in the form of "cloud performance", so that the audience could fully appreciate the charm of Taiwan's folk culture.

Tang Youlin, a Taiwanese musician who works and lives in Fuzhou, told Nandu reporters that the reason why he chose to settle in Fuzhou was because the people here also spoke Hokkien and had a very cordial feeling. In addition, Fuzhou has a climate and cultural environment similar to That of Taiwan, and the city's regular folk parades, street art collections, intangible cultural heritage project displays and other activities have inspired him as a musician, and these activities have also made him know and like the city of Fuzhou more.
