Punta Arenas

author:Delightful artist Ay

Punta Arenas, the capital of the 13th largest district of Chile, magellan, is the southernmost city in Chile and one of the closest cities on Earth to Antarctica.

When we were in Chile, we often thought the name was too long and a bit wordy, so we often called it "Punta" in colloquial language. As long as you say "Punta", Chileans can understand it.

"From arica in the far north to Punta Arenas in the far south..." is a common language used by the President of Chile in his speeches, describing the chilean territory as the longest country in the world, and also means that "Punta" is the southernmost territory of Chile.

The population of Magellan is mainly concentrated in the capital, with a population of about 150,000. With the exception of the capital, it is almost uninhabited. The capitals of most chilean regions have a population of around 150,000-200,000, so the population of "Punta" is not too small.
