Born in 1920 in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, Zhang Pu joined the Shanghai Kunlun Film Company in 1947 and joined the Cultural and Labor Troupe of North China University in 1948.
In 1949, the Northeast Film Studio (later renamed Changchun Film Studio) translated and produced the first translated film in New China, "Ordinary Soldier", and for the first time, the audience could understand the film without using slide subtitles, instruction manuals or commentators.
After the success of the film, the Northeast Film Studio set up a translation and production team to recruit talents in various places, and Zhang Puren joined with many literary and artistic backbones of North China University and began to engage in translation and production start-up work.
Zhang Puren's directorial works include many translations and productions from the former Soviet Union, India and other countries, including "Conquering Berlin", "Wanderer (Part 1, Part II)", "National Hero Yulayev", "Cultivating Brave Spirit", "Taleman Biography (Part I)", etc., participating in the first glory of translation and production, leaving a shining mark in the history of Chinese cinema.
