RTX 40 Graphics: Architecture changes are small, performance gains are significant

Previously, it was reported that NVIDIA's RTX 40 series graphics card will be launched this year, of which the game card uses 5nm process, the architecture code name is Lovelace, I believe that players still have certain expectations for the performance of RTX 40 series graphics cards.

According to BoBantang, the Lovelace architecture does not seem to have changed much compared with Ampere, but the upgrade of the process will bring about a significant performance improvement.

RTX 40 Graphics: Architecture changes are small, performance gains are significant

The large core of the 5nm Lovelace architecture, numbered AD102, will have 12 GPC, 72 TPCs, and 144 SM clusters, each with 128 stream processors, for a total of 18,432 stream processors, an increase of 71% compared to the AMP architecture GA102 core.

In addition, there have been whistleblowers who said that the frequency of Lovelace's flagship graphics card can reach 2.5GHz, and the floating-point performance can reach 90TFLOPS, an increase of 152% compared with the RTX 3090. Combined, although the architecture of the RTX 40 series graphics cards has not changed much, the process improvement has brought better energy efficiency and more powerful performance.
