United Nations, 10 Feb (Xinhua) -- Dai Bing, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, said in his speech at the first thematic discussion of the "Our Common Agenda" held at the United Nations General Assembly on 10 February that China will actively participate in global development cooperation and promote common and green development in connection with the global development initiative put forward by the Chinese leader.

Dai Bing said that China welcomes the report submitted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on his "Our Common Agenda" and believes that the report puts forward a series of forward-looking proposals in view of the major challenges facing the world today and in the future. In the face of the impact of the new crown epidemic, all countries, especially developing countries, strongly expect the United Nations to push the development process back on track.

In response to the theme of the discussion on the day, "Accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and leave no one behind", Dai Bing said that China supports the United Nations in providing support to Member States in the fields of social security, decent work and lifelong learning. The report puts forward the idea of holding an education reform summit and a social summit, and China is willing to actively participate in the discussion.

He said that China supports the report's focus on women and gender equality. China has a positive attitude towards the Secretary-General's proposal to establish an office on youth issues.

"The well-being of people, the health of the planet and the well-being of our children and grandchildren all depend on our willingness to unite and work collectively to solve the problems we face," Guterres said.

On 10 September 2021, Guterres presented to the General Assembly our Common Agenda report on global cooperation in all its aspects, calling on all countries to work together to address global issues. The General Assembly will hold thematic seminars on the content of the report. (End)
