The First Affiliated Hospital of Shaoyang University: Precise intervention, unimpeded breathing, tracheal stent placement to support the airway of life

Surgical scene.

Red network moment February 11 (correspondent Wang Shao) On February 7, the first day of work in the new year, the intervention team of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Shaoyang University successfully completed the tracheal stenting for the first time, for a patient with esophageal cancer progression compressing the trachea and causing the left main bronchi to be slitty- and narrow, the general anesthesia tracheal intubation bronchoscopic stent was urgently implemented, so that the patient's symptoms of dyspnea were improved in the shortest possible time.

A 68-year-old elderly man, 2 years ago due to "dysphagia" in our hospital, diagnosed and diagnosed as "esophageal squamous cell carcinoma", underwent chemotherapy and immunotherapy, but the lesion gradually progressed and oppressed the left main bronchi, more than 1 month ago, chest tightness, shortness of breath after activity, the condition worsened step by step, transferred from the outer hospital to the First Affiliated Hospital of Shaoyang University. The patient was admitted to the hospital with extreme difficulty breathing, severe hypoxia, and only a slit remained in the left main bronchial stenosis on tracheoscopy.

In view of the risk of death by suffocation at any time, after the intervention team of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine fully discussed the condition, the joint anesthesiology department successfully completed the left main bronchial stent implantation under general anesthesia endotracheal intubation, and the whole operation lasted about 15 minutes, and the postoperative patient's breathing difficulties were significantly alleviated.

Airway stenting is difficult and risky, and is mainly suitable for lumen reconstruction of central airway organic narrowing; support of cartilage weakness of trachea and bronchomalacia; and sealing of trachea, bronchial fistula or fissure. At present, only a few hospitals in the province carry out this technology project, and the respiratory intervention team of the First Affiliated Hospital of Shaoyang University has mastered the technology, and will continue to carry out new technologies and new projects in the future, strive for excellence on the development path of respiratory intervention, and gradually form a discipline with characteristic advantages.
