"Lao Cao can be said to be my guide into the TV circle!" In the 1990s, he also recommended me to write for Asia Weekly, and after the launch of Zhongtian TV, he also recommended me to participate in the current affairs review program of Zhongtian TV. Before joining Phoenix TV in 2002, Cao Jingxing invited me to guest appearances in Phoenix's program many times, and before the trial broadcast of "Threesomes", we were also an invited guest group! Entering the Phoenix, we were in the same office, participating in the filming and production of N programs together, the cooperation was very pleasant, he left The Phoenix to teach at Tsinghua University in Beijing. I have also been invited to give classes to students at Tsinghua University!

We keep in touch all the time! There is interaction on WeChat every day!

Knowing that he suffered from stomach cancer and underwent major surgery, he was also tormented by the pain of chemotherapy reactions during chemotherapy, and the greetings during the Spring Festival especially urged him to take care of his body for early recovery and recovery, and he never expected to go so fast!

He is the third term, the old knows the youth, the old media person, has his own persistence, good drinking, a silver hair charms a lot of "uncle control" women; good at talking, has his own point of view and experience; empathy, which is also caused by the accumulation of personal experience!

He often talks to me about his impressions of my father! I remember telling me that Cao Juren died of illness in Macau, and he walked from Guangzhou to Zhuhai for a total of fifteen hours before reaching the pass; in fact, he spent more than a month with his father in his life

Lao Cao's death is regrettable and painful!

Jiang Xun and Cao Jingxing went to the countryside on a farm, and both of them left! Veterans do not die, only wither, this sentence is closer to us!

Cao Jingxing, whose ancestral home is Lanxi, Zhejiang, was born in Shanghai in 1947. Since 1968, he has been in the nanshan mountains of Anhui for 10 years. In 1978, he entered the Department of History of Fudan University. In 1982, he entered the Institute of World Economy of shanghai academy of social sciences to study the US economy.

Silver Hair "Master Milk Killer", "News Radar"

As the first person to comment on Chinese-language TELEVISION news, Cao Jingxing has always adhered to the bottom line of news people - not to tell lies, not to say what he does not believe.

From the first time he appeared on the TV screen, Cao Jingxing was already a silver-haired and wise old man. And he is like a young man, full of news passion, insisting on appearing in the first scene of the news. Whenever he encounters a news event, big or small, he will go to the first scene like a young news warrior and make news commentary.

Dou Wentao, a host of Phoenix Satellite TV, called it a "news radar", and he once described Cao Jingxing as "getting up in the morning, staring at the TV news, listening to the radio broadcast with his ears, and flipping through the seven or eight newspapers of the day" in his hands. Cao Jingxing publishes a large number of circles of friends every day, and his personal circle of friends is called "personal news agency" by the media.

In 2016, Dong Jiayao, then vice president and director of Phoenix Satellite TV, wrote an article for him entitled "Cao Jingxing: A Silver Haired Milk Killer Born for TV Commentary", "He has a silver hair that grabs the camera, especially suitable for TV... Wise, mature and full of silver hair, as soon as he 'debuted', he became a master milk killer."

Deep vision

Work hard from the beginning in a year of confusion

In 1987, at the age of forty, Cao Jingxing decided to move with his family to Hong Kong, and with years of knowledge and knowledge, he soon entered the news industry and worked as a writer in Asia Weekly. Due to his novel ideas and solid style, he was soon promoted to deputy editor-in-chief of Asia Weekly and chief writer of Ming Pao, and wrote reviews for Chinese newspapers and periodicals in Singapore, Malaysia and other places. Cao Jingxing worked in print media for eight years, and during these eight years, his first priority was to run for the survival of his family.

After eight years of hard work, Cao Jingxing finally solved the problem of survival of the whole family, the pressure of family life is no longer as great as when he first entered Hong Kong, and life has gradually settled down. However, at this time, Cao Jingxing's heart began to fluctuate again, and he felt that the work of print media was too familiar to him to be familiar with anymore, and the work was not new, so he began to think about doing more interesting things.

In 1997, Cao Jingxing again unexpectedly changed his career to television and entered a new field for him. He first joined "Communications Television" to direct the "Zhongtian" news channel, and a few months later, he transferred to Phoenix TV Chinese, which was fixed in 1998, when he was 51 years old.

Thick and thin

After the age of 50, he ran a TV commentary column

After joining Phoenix Satellite TV, Phoenix Satellite TV's special operation mode and relaxed working environment have brought Cao Jingxing's wisdom into full play. On May 7, 1999, the US-led NATO bombed the Chinese Embassy in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, attracting worldwide attention. Phoenix Satellite TV quickly launched a current affairs and commentary column "Chinese Say No Today" in light of the situation, anchored by Cao Jingxing. In a swivel chair, Cao Jingxing commented for two hours a day. Soon, the "Chinese Say No Today" column caused a strong response among the audience, which also gave birth to a new program format—— — current affairs analysis and current affairs commentary.

Three months later, Cao Jingxing and his colleagues felt that this form of commentary should be adhered to, so together they founded the "Current Affairs Lecture" column on the basis of "Chinese Say No Today", which was officially launched on August 23, 1999. Cao Jingxing called "Current Affairs Lecture" a program that is "simpler than the weather forecast of CCTV." However, its exquisite commentary quickly attracted people from all walks of life at different levels, and many national political leaders, business executives, and other core social figures took it as a fixed program; many college students deliberately went to the hotel to charter a room when a major event occurred, specifically to listen to how to comment on "Current Affairs Lecture".

Cao Jingxing's unique insight into international current affairs has further enhanced the popularity of the "Current Affairs Lecture" column, making it a famous brand column of Phoenix Satellite TV. Since then, the "Current Affairs Lecture" column has continuously won the Chinese television industry awards, and has been rated as the "Best News Program" of the "China Television Program List" and the "Top Ten Famous Brand Columns of China Television".

Being taught by a father is a luxury

Cao Jingxing had a father who spanned the "four worlds" of politics, history, journalism and literature——— Cao Juren.

Cao Juren was an introductory disciple of the master of traditional Chinese studies, Mr. Zhang Taiyan, who had close contacts with Lu Xun and wrote the Commentary on Lu Xun.

Cao Juren (1900-1972), also known as Tingxiu, was a native of Jiangfa Village, Nanxiang, Pujiang County, Zhejiang Province (now part of Lanxi City, Zhejiang). In the autumn of 1916, he was admitted to the Zhejiang Provincial First Normal School; in 1922, he came to Shanghai, founded Cangsheng Public School, taught at the Patriotic Girls' Middle School, and wrote for a long time in the supplement of the Republic of China Daily, "Enlightenment". In May 1923, he established the "New South Society" with Liu Yazi and others, and became a disciple of Zhang Taiyan, and became famous in the Cultural and Academic Circles of Shanghai.

In 1923, Cao Juren, with a five-year teacher training student qualification, stepped onto the pulpit of Fudan, Jinan and other universities, and has been a professor for more than 20 years.

In 1937, when the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out, Cao Juren took off his robe, threw his pen into The Rong, and then, as a war correspondent, published a lot of wartime news, shocking the news of the great victory of Taierzhuang at home and abroad, which was the first to be sent to the world.

He also reported the truth of the "Anhui Southern Incident" to overseas for the first time, which became a famous record of the War of Resistance.

In 1950, when Cao Juren was in a state of collapse of the Kuomintang and the overall victory of the Communist Party, he left his wife and son to come to Hong Kong and, as a freelance journalist, used words to express his views on New China.

Since 1956, Cao Juren has frequently traveled north for peace talks between the Kuomintang and the Republic of China, and was a guest of honor to Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai in Zhongnanhai, and the father and son of Chiang Kai-shek and Chiang Ching-kuo in Taiwan also secretly invited him to "talk freely" and secretly discuss the peaceful reunification of the two sides of the strait.

When Cao Juren went to Hong Kong, Cao Jingxing was only three years old, and although his father frequently went north, the days spent with his family added up to a month at most.

Until 1972, when his father was about to die, under the personal arrangement of Premier Zhou Enlai, Cao Jingxing returned to Shanghai from the countryside of Anhui and rushed to Macau with his sister Cao Lei, but he could not see the last face of his father before he died.

Cao Jingxing wrote in the Preface to the Hong Kong Literature Series (Cao Juren Scrolls): "Whenever a friend says that I work in the Hong Kong press as 'inheriting my father's business', I can't help but smile bitterly in my stomach. After coming to Hong Kong, I have seen several articles about how I benefited from my father's teachings in my early years; for me, this is a luxury, difficult to reach. ”

Nowadays, many people say that Cao Jingxing has many similarities with his father, saying that he is "the son inherits the father's business". In fact, Cao Jingxing did not have much contact with his father, and it could even be said that it was pitiful. His vividest memory of his father is: "When I was four years old, in the summer, my father rushed to the Shanghai Railway Station, hurried through the ticket gate, and disappeared into the crowd on the platform. ”

Cao Jingxing does have many similarities with his father. He has been eager to learn since childhood, has a special affection for books, and has been very good at learning from elementary school to middle school. Even in the era when the "uselessness of reading" prevailed, he still did not forget to read. In 1968, he went to the countryside to the tea forest farm in southern Anhui, still insisting on working during the day and reading at night. At that time, there were very few books to read, so he tried everything to find books to read, even the study materials sent by the cadres of the big and small teams.

It was this unremitting study that after the college entrance examination system was restored in 1977, Cao Jingxing was successfully admitted to the History Department of Fudan University. For this matter, Cao Jingxing said: "When studying in the countryside, there is no idea too clear, but I think I should master more knowledge and be a learned person like my father, and as a result, the college entrance examination comes, the opportunity also comes, since there is an opportunity, I must try it, so there is a lot of reading knowledge as the foundation, and it is only natural to enter the university."

After four years of hard study, Cao Jingxing entered the Institute of World Economics of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences with excellent results, and began to study the US and Asia-Pacific economies with the scholars of his predecessors.

Reading is a strong backing for lectures

No matter whenever he mentions his achievements, Cao Jingxing will humbly say, "We are like a team." I'm not necessarily the best to play, but I'm in this position and the ball is right at my feet, and if the ball is kicked away, it doesn't necessarily mean that I'm good in myself, because the opportunity is good. This sentence is also printed on the title page of his new book.

"When I was a presenter, I consumed all the accumulation of my youth." Cao Jingxing said that on top of this accumulation, the information and news I see every day are automatically classified in my mind, "For example, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, I began to pay attention to it 30 years ago, cross-strait relations have been concerned for 20 years, and Sino-US relations have been concerned for more than 30 years... For us, every breaking news event can be combined with the original knowledge learned, and the news will be clear and accurate in the context of history. ”

Reading is the solid backing of Cao Jingxing's "opening lecture". He divided his reading into the "flipping through the books" of his youth and the current "era of newspaper reading".

"When I was in Anhui, I wanted to see things the most and couldn't see things. Everyone passed on the book to each other, and when they got it, they turned it over. "In a farm with little information, Cao Jingxing is like a sponge, drawing nourishment from the books sent to cadres by the farm, whether it is the "Twenty-Four Histories" or the works of Marxism-Leninism, and reading them wildly when he catches his hand. Along the way, he read difficult books such as philosophy, history, political economy, etc., "For example, if I take a copy of Hegel, it will be very boring and I will read it, or even read it more than once, whether I can read it or not." By the time he got to college, he ended the era of "scribbling" and began to systematically digest and sort out the previous nutrition.

"I have more time to read the books I want to read, and in addition to the history class, I also go to the world economy and international relations class. During my six or seven years at the Academy of Social Sciences, I also read a lot of books—which became the most important backing for my later journalism. ”

The times have created their regrets, but they have also created the glory of thick accumulation. In Cao Jingxing's view, this experience is a common experience of the times, and "it is difficult for today's young people to have this mentality and environment." Cao Jingxing released the accumulated wisdom little by little, and also added new information and knowledge in a timely manner. In the eyes of the media, he is the "knower" of the new era, walking in the forefront of the times with unique insights.
