Explore Egypt– the Aswan Dam

author:Zhu Yan said goodbye

We flew to Aswan at 4:00 a.m. local time, a tourist city in southern Egypt. It is said that the stones that built the pyramids were mined from here and transported by water, and the city is also famous for the Aswan Dam. Located in the upper reaches of the Nile River, more than 800 kilometers from Cairo, the dam is a comprehensive utilization of water conservancy projects, with irrigation, power generation, flood control, shipping, tourism, aquatic products and other functions. The dam is 110 meters high and 30-35 meters deep, and it is said that the stones used in the dam exceed the pyramid of Khufu. The dam was built with the aid of the former Soviet Union, and in that era, it can really be said to be world-famous, one of the seven major dams in the world. Today, many Chinese looked at it and said that compared to our Three Gorges Dam, it is nothing at all. But the dam was built in the 1960s and played a huge role in Egypt's food production. Once, during the famine throughout Africa, Egypt's food was self-sufficient, and it was also the credit of the dam! The dam's power generation can supply not only Egypt's electricity, but also other Arab countries.
