In Pyeongchang County, Bazhong, the construction site of the Jiangjiakou Reservoir is busy, and workers are stepping up the excavation of diversion holes. Jiangjiakou Reservoir is one of the 172 major water conservancy projects that the State Council has determined to accelerate the promotion of, and construction began in October last year, and the excavation of the No. 1 and No. 2 construction branch holes has been completed.

In Yibin, the first phase of the Xiangjiaba Irrigation District North Main Trunk Canal Project Cat Tuo River bottom tunnel is accelerating the excavation, tunnel through the upper reaches of the Yangtze River rare and endemic fish national nature reserve important waters, in order to protect the ecology, the project in Sichuan water conservancy construction for the first time using a shield machine to cross the bottom of the MinJiang River.
Wei Huyan, head of the first shield machine of the engineering department of Sichuan Xiangjiaba Irrigation District Construction and Development Co., Ltd., said: Compared with blasting, the shield machine is more in line with the requirements of ecological environmental protection, and the safety factor is higher, and it can also save costs.
For the slag generated during tunnel boring, the project also specially customized the belt transfer system, which greatly improved the excavation efficiency.

At present, the tunnel has completed 40% of the progress of excavation. According to the plan, the lower crossing of the Min River will be completed by the end of March, laying an important foundation for the next step of irrigation district construction. The Xiangjiaba Irrigation District Project is an important part of the "five horizontal and six vertical" water diversion and water replenishment ecological water network in Sichuan Province, with a planned irrigation area of 5.3 million mu, which can solve the water problem of 143 towns and more than 4 million rural people in the irrigation area after completion.
