Bundesliga introducing playoffs? Vátsk: I don't support it, but I can't completely deny it

10 Feb (0219) -- The new owner of the German Professional Football League, Hopfen, recently proposed to consider introducing playoffs for the Bundesliga in the future, a move that could bring more suspense to the league's title race, in addition to higher TV revenue. While Bayern Munich Chairman Kahn is open to the proposal, Waltsk of Dortmund is one of the opponents of the proposal.

In a recent interview with Bild, Hopfen said: "Of course, if there is more competition in the league, it will be more attractive. ”

The German media said it was ironic that Bayern Munich, which was already close to winning the Bundesliga title in the current model, thought the idea was "exciting", while Borussia Dortmund, who had not won the Bundesliga title for nearly 10 years, had a different view.

Dortmund CEO Vátsk said: "As we all know, I was never a playoff supporter. In 2018, Vátsk also described the new event as a "circus monkey".

However, Vátsk's position has also softened, saying: "Considering the overall situation of the game model, there should be no more fundamental thinking constraints".

In addition to Borussia Dortmund, Woller from Bayer Leverkusen, Croscher in Frankfurt and Single at Union Berlin have flatly rejected the idea of a playoff.
