Beijing boy collected 5,000 Pieces of Olympic Collection in 20 years, with 70 or 80 "ice piers"

Zhang Wenquan sits on an entire wall of "ice piers"

The Spring Festival holiday has passed, and manufacturers of licensed commodities for the Beijing Winter Olympics have resumed work, but the "ice pier" is still in demand. On February 8, there was still a long queue at 9 p.m. at the beijing Winter Olympics licensed commodity flagship store in The Gongmei Building in Wangfujing, Beijing, but even if you wait for hours, you can only get the "ice pier" pre-sale card for delivery on February 22.

But while countless people are diligently seeking "ice piers", Zhang Wenquan, a 35-year-old Beijinger, is sitting on a whole wall of various "ice piers". Zhang Wenquan told reporters: "I now have seventy or eighty plush toys and handmade 'ice piers', if you count the other collections of 'ice piers' shape, there should be more than 200!" Probably aside from factories and shops, I have the most 'ice piers' here in the country! ”

Zhang Wenquan is not a speculator who "hoards and juqi", as a collector of Olympic souvenirs, "ice piers" are only a small part of Zhang Wenquan's collection, "I have souvenirs of the Summer Olympic Games, Winter Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, and universiade, with a total of more than 5,000 pieces." 'Ice Piers' I've been collecting since 2019. ”

Collect more than 5,000 pieces of the Olympic collection, costing up to 400,000 to 500,000

At the end of a small hutong in Beijing's West Second Ring Road, there is an inconspicuous façade – the now highly sought-after "ice pier", where a 30-square-meter hut is piled up with walls.

Fang advocated Wenquan as an employee of a construction company in Beijing and an avid collector of Olympic souvenirs, whose family has more than 5,000 Olympic-related souvenirs.

"This is the oldest in my collection – the original torch for the 1936 Berlin Olympics!" Zhang Wenquan handed over a golden screw-shaped torch, and then picked up a silver torch with a glass head next to him, "This is the torch of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, and these two torches were purchased by me for tens of thousands of yuan." In comparison, the torch of the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics is more precious, and the glass on it is easy to break, and there were also collectors in China at that time who also bought it, but it was damaged in transportation. I've kept this one the best. ”

Zhang Wenquan has been obsessed with collecting Olympic memorabilia since the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. For more than 20 years, he has collected souvenirs from the summer Olympic Games, Winter Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games and Universiade after the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, "mainly mascots, torches, venue models, and landscape flags."

Zhang Wenquan said that over the years, he has spent four or five hundred thousand yuan on the Olympic collection, "in addition to the necessary expenses, almost all my salary is used for collection."

He is not only a collector, but also a "double Olympic volunteer"

Zhang Wenquan not only spent money on Olympic souvenirs, he also actively promoted the Olympic Games.

At the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Zhang Wenquan volunteered at wukesong baseball stadium, responsible for printing and distributing results. At the Beijing Winter Olympics, Zhang Wenquan also became a city volunteer, giving himself the honor of "Double Olympic Volunteer". In the MV of "Together to the Future", Zhang Wenquan's figure also appeared. He also shared a large amount of Winter Olympics-related information in his WeChat circle of friends, "helping the Winter Olympics, it is indispensable."

Previously, Zhang Wenquan had held exhibitions of Olympic collections in some primary and secondary schools in Beijing, "During the Winter Olympics, I also held exhibitions at the China Science and Technology Museum, the China Film Museum and some city volunteer sites. Now there's a limited edition 'Ice Pier' that I like and is being lent out for exhibition. The community neighborhood committee is also discussing with me and wants to use my collection to hold an exhibition in the near future."

Zhang Wenquan said that his parents were very supportive of his hobbies, "my father specially built 8 shelves for me in this room to place the collection."

In this room, the most attractive thing now is the variety of "ice pier" souvenirs. Zhang Wenquan told reporters: "Some people may think that I hoarded Juqi, in fact, I began in 2019, it took nearly 3 years to collect so many ice piers." ”

But now, the popularity of the "ice pier" has also brought trouble to Zhang Wenquan, "Today (February 9) afternoon, the New Year special edition of the 'ice pier' was on sale online, and I could not grab it." The fire on the ice pier is a very happy thing, but it also affects my collection plan, which is really a happy and painful thing."

I hope to be a volunteer of the Chengdu Universiade, it is best to be a torchbearer

On the evening of February 8, Zhang Wenquan took a taxi to the flagship store of licensed commodities for the Beijing Winter Olympics in Wangfujing. When the taxi driver on the road learned that he was the collector of the "ice pier", he immediately connected his son by video and told Zhang Wenquan: "This person has a lot of 'ice piers'!" ”

At a time when the "ice pier" has become the top class, "I have suddenly become popular now, and people who used to think that I spent money indiscriminately have also come to me and want to buy the ice pier from me or at a low price." I also had good friends who asked me to send them a few, but I was really reluctant to do so."

Zhang Wenquan said that he would never sell the collection, "I don't like the exchange of items with other Tibetan friends, that is, this time I exchanged a down jacket for the Beijing Winter Olympics with several collections."

At the end of the interview, when he learned that the reporter was from Chengdu, Zhang Wenquan was excited: "I very much want the mascot of the Chengdu Universiade', 'Rongbao', and now I have some souvenirs of the Chengdu Universiade, but there is no 'Rongbao'!" ”

Zhang Wenquan said that he would like to go to Chengdu to participate in the work of the Universiade, "I have also collected some souvenirs of the Universiade before, such as the torch of the Shenzhen Universiade and the model of the main torch tower of the Beijing Universiade." If I have the opportunity this summer, I hope to be a volunteer at the Chengdu Universiade, and if I can become a torchbearer, it is the best! ”
