On January 17, the Qingdao Bidding Network released the "Qingdao Metro Line 8 Branch Line Engineering Civil Construction Qualification Pre-qualification Announcement" to start bidding, which means that the project is one step closer to the official start of construction, and it is more convenient for residents of the main urban area of Jiaozhou City and Dagu River Tourist Resort to travel to and from Hongdao, Hetao, North Railway Station, Qingdao main urban area and other areas after completion.

According to the bidding announcement, the project starts from Dajian Station, the main branch line of Line 8 in the east, and to Jiaozhou Railway Station in the west. The route passes through Chengyang District and Jiaozhou City of Qingdao City, connects Hongdao Economic Zone, Shaohai New Town and the main urban area of Jiaozhou City, and mainly lays along Zhengyang West Road, Planning Camp Old Road, Yuntai Road, Yangzhou East Road and Hangzhou Road. The total length of the line is 20.4 km, all of which are underground. There are a total of 12 stations on the line, and 4 interchange stations on the line. They are transferred to the existing Line 8 at Dajian Station, to The Station Front Avenue Station with Planned Line 12, and at Fuzhou South Road Station and Lanzhou West Road Station to Planning Line 10.
It is reported that the project cost 5.6 billion yuan, the source of funds is finance, financing, the proportion of capital contribution is 40% finance, 60 financing. Construction is scheduled to take 60 months, with construction scheduled to begin on March 31, 2022, completed on October 31, 2026, and scheduled for completion on March 31, 2027.
