The Tesla Model S Plaid is a unique car that is currently unmatched on the market and may not be a competitor anytime soon, and despite being a four-door electric car, the Model S Plaid is still the first production car to reach 60 mph in less than 2 seconds and run 1/4 mile in 8.943 seconds, which also sets a new world record for all production cars in history.

In mid-May 2021, the Tesla Model S Plaid set a new 1/4-mile speed record for any production car in the world, and on May 11, 2021, jay Leno, who was present, set a new 1/4-mile record at the Autoclub Famoso circuit in Bakersfield.
In November 2021, Tom Tharp shared the news that his friend had set a new record. According to his post, his friend George and his wife, Kristen, drove the Tesla Model S Plaid for 1/4 mile in less than 9 seconds. Recorded run-time photos show that the distance was completed in 8.994 seconds, and while there is no explanation of how the Model S Plaid was modified, the photos show it was lightened by removing the seat. Other details of the other modifications are still unknown.
That's not the limit of what the electric monster can do, though, and it recently set a new 1/4-mile time record. Foreign netizens @situation_coyote shared their achievements in Model S Plaid. According to the information it provided, the car traveled 1/4 mile (in just 8.943 seconds) at a speed of 156.23 miles per hour. That's a tenth of a second faster than the previous record of 8.994 seconds set by George and Christine— after all, every millisecond becomes difficult to achieve at such an astonishing speed. According to their subsequent explanations, the car was reduced by removing the interior. However, the car still uses 21-inch Arachnid wheels, which are factory-installed in the car by default.
The Tesla Model S Plaid has also broken the $3.3 million Bugatti Chiron Sport record of 9.4 seconds 1/4 mile, knowing that the Model S Plaid is 27 times cheaper than the Bugatti Chiron Sport, and it is also a family electric car (and probably the fastest production car in the world).
